6:30 AM News/April 15, 2020 Southeastern Louisiana University could possibly receive up to $10.6 million from the federal government’s $2.2 trillion stimulus bill.The Advocate reports that public colleges and universities in Louisiana are getting $147 million through the bill.Figures were provided from the state Board of Regents.LSU would receive $19 million; the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, $12.7 million; Southern University, $9.4 million; Southern University New Orleans, $2.5 million and the University of New Orleans, $5.6 millionThe coronavirus pandemic has brought about an increase in the need for blood.The Blood Center and the Ponchatoula Lions Club will sponsor a blood drive today at the Lions Club Headquarters on East Pine Street.The drive is from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.Social distancing will be practiced during the drive.For more information go to .The Center for Reproductive Rights is suing Louisiana for the state’s attempts to close abortion clinics as part of a shutdown of all services deemed non-essential.President Nancy Northup says attempting to force clinic closures violates due process and equal protection.
