Deadwood: A Two Headed Beast
Monday,27 June 2011
In an age of plunder and greed the richest gold strike in American history draws a throng of restless misfits to an outlaw settlement where everything - and everyone - has a price. Welcome to Deadwood…a hell of a place to make your fortune.
Tonight, Cy Tolliver (Powers Booth) is looking for an underling to represent him in his dealings with George Hearst (Gerald McRaney), mimicking Al Swearengen's (Ian McShane) approach.
Hearst tries to discern Silas Adams' (Titus Welliver) loyalty to Swearengen, and whether he can win it away. In the end, all Hearst offers is a message that Captain Turner (Alan Graf) is ready to take on Dan Dority (W Earl Brown).
Swearengen debriefs Adams on his meeting. Dority, riled that he's been called out, is ready to fight. But Al wants to think first.
Meanwhile, Bullock draws his gun to fire the signal for Hostetler (Richard Gant) at the hardware store and 'drunk' Steve (Michael Harney) to sign simultaneously their agreement on the livery.
Al, unable to figure Hearst's angle, sends Dority off to fight. Dority prepares, greasing himself up. Johnny Burns (Sean Bridgers) offers to shoot Turner if Dan signals something is going wrong, but Dority won't have it.
As Turner prepares, Hearst and Turner recollect past fights, Hearst insinuating he should make the fight an object lesson for everyone watching.
Dority and Turner charge towards each other and a long and brutal battle.

Leigh Hart's Mysterious Planet
Tuesday,28 June 2011
On a quest to seek the truth behind the world's greatest mysteries, self proclaimed 'expert' Leigh Hart embarks on a journey to the most challenging, dangerous and remote environments on the planet.
Tonight, the Mysterious Planet team go in search of one of the world's most mythical monsters - Loch Ness.
After countless hours of precious research in Scottish taverns around the famous body of water, Leigh and his New Zealand cohorts eventually head out to the mysterious Loch.
As far back as the 7th century, people have reported seeing a Loch Ness monster on the famous waters.
Unleashing their state of the art technology the Mysterious Planet team search long and hard for the legendary monster. But the Scottish Highlands are not ready to give up their treasured folklore so easily.
For hundreds of years people have reported catching a glimpse of a huge sea creature in the lake while others claim they have photos of it.
Can Leigh Hart explain these mysterious sightings?
The legend is so great that highly credentialed experts such as Leigh have been intrigued by the phenomenon. After a few days of thoughtful study Leigh comes up with his own unique theory that explains what people have been witnessing for centuries.
However, there is always drama in any of Leigh’s expeditions, and there’s commotion when the Mysterious Planet team manage to cut off electricity to the local village before completing their mission.

The True Story: Pirates Of The Caribbean
Wednesday,29 June 2011
The True Story is a documentary series that looks behind the gloss and glamour of cinema legends to discover the truth behind some of the world's most famous films. The first series looked at the real stories and characters that inspired Indiana Jones, James Bond, Escape from Alcatraz, The Untouchables and The Amityville Horror. This time the series explores the truth behind some of the biggest blockbusters of all time: Jaws, Titanic, Pirates of the Caribbean, Jurassic Park and Gladiator.
The first episode takes the viewer on a swashbuckling adventure to the high seas. Starring Johnny Depp, Pirates of the Caribbean tells the incredible story of an 18th-century pirate battling a band of cursed former crewmates lead by the undead Captain Barbossa. Featuring interviews with historians, treasure hunters and the movie screenwriters, The True Story reveals how the adventures of real pirates 300 years ago inspired the film, including those of history's most notorious swashbuckling antihero - Captain Blackbeard.

Arrested Development: Visiting Hours
Thursday,30 June 2011
Arrested Development continues, and this week Michael (Jason Bateman) can't help but notice that Lindsay (Portia De Rossi) and Tobias (David Cross) are having a tough time with their marriage, despite efforts to disguise their troubles. Later he pays his father a visit in prison. George Senior (Jeffrey Tambor) seems more interested in a prison baseball game than helping his son solve the riddle of his mysterious bookkeeping.
Michael gives up and heads to the office, where he speaks with Kitty, his father's secretary. Michael suspects she may know the whereabouts of some documentation pertaining to international accounts, but she plays dumb.
Meanwhile Gob (Will Arnett) uses his charms on Kitty in the hope of getting the information Michael needs. But after sleeping with her he still doesn't get what he needs.
Michael takes George-Michael (Michael Cera) to see his father, but the visit doesn't go as planned with Michael Senior telling George-Michael he will die in prison, which leads to George-Michael becoming hysterical and George Senior being sedated...
In Dr Ginty's office, Lindsay and Tobias participate in a role-reversal game, but when it fails to produce results Ginty steps in and takes Tobias's role. When he finishes Lindsay declares that now "there are two men I want to leave". Meanwhile Maeby finds her mother's appointment book and finds out about Ginty. She fears her parents are getting a divorce.
Please note: This is the first episode of the series that has been available to send out for publicity purposes.

Riese: Prey
Friday,1 July 2011
After scanning the town for clues and coming up empty handed, Riese and Fenrir decide that the best plan of action is to sleep silently through the night, and leave in the morning. But the eerie feeling of being watched haunts Riese, and her dreams reflect Vidar's nightmarish quality in vivid detail as she sees her family being murdered on that fateful day.
She wakes panting and sees the ghostly figure of a child skirt by her window. Thinking she may finally have stumbled on to the trail of the missing children, Riese follows the child, but finds herself ensnared by a gang of vapid, zombie-like children.
Amara is happy to hear of her army's progress on the battlefield, and although it causes the kingdom great pain of sacrifice, orders a still stronger push to root out the rebels.
Her debriefing is interrupted by a message from the temple: a low priestess by the name of Marlise delivers a message that Trennan's presence is requested. While in the royal chamber, Marlise lets slip that Herrick is in the capital for a conference at The Sect temple - a fact that was meant to be kept secret from the Empress Amara.

The Tudors
Friday,1 July 2011
Sir Robert Packington, a Parliamentarian and friend of Cromwell (James Frain), is shot dead in a London street. Cromwell suspects the assassination as a warning to him but refuses to speculate who might he behind it. He is more concerned with finding a new bride for his King who has shut himself away in sadness and grief following the death of his much-loved third wife Jane Seymour, mother to his only male heir. The infant, Edward, is being looked after by his half-sister Lady Mary (Sarah Bolger) and several of Jane's ladies-in-waiting.
Soon afterwards, there is another deadly assault on the Sergeant-at-Arms himself - the King's law enforcer - by unidentified swordsmen. With the King in isolation, law and order is beginning to break down at the political heart of the kingdom. Cromwell is summoned to the secluded King's (Jonathan Rhys Meyers) chamber to bring news. Cromwell proposes remarriage, but Henry is disinterested.
Henry meets with Bishop Gardiner (Simon Ward) who is writing the doctrine of the Church of England. As usual the bishops have failed to agree on anything and Henry, with growing impatience, has taken the matter into his own hands providing six doctrinal questions which will form the basis of his church. After consultation, the Bishops respond to his 'Six Articles of Faith' in accordance with Catholic theology. Although Henry seems unperturbed by this, Cromwell is most certainly disturbed by this roll-back on revolution. What has happened to his Reformation?!

Design For Life
After last week's disastrous presentation, Philippe Starck wanted to send all the students home, but instead he let them all stay - considering them to be equally as bad as each other.
On tonight's episode of Design For Life, Philippe gives them the same brief as last week but under strict instructions that they must now all work alone. With only a week to prove themselves, the students waste no time getting on with the project, some choosing to fine tune their original ideas, others choosing to pursue a new concept.
Helen is the last to form an idea, a lamp with a shade that turns into a bat, she has only two days to pull it together. Ana Marie is quietly confident with her inventive pot plant design while Trevor moves away from his original homeless shelter design, instead opting to design an ergonomic chair for schoolchildren. Isla pursues her idea of helping the elderly with a product that will assist their mobility, while Mike attempts to fine tune his magnetic dinner service, sending his rough sketches out for professional feedback.
On presentation day, Philippe listens intently to the ideas, reserving his comments. But when the students leave, he is frank in his discussions with Jasmine and Eugeni as to which projects he likes. With only four spots available to stay in the competition, Philippe is looking for the products that can be moved into the design and prototype stage.
When the students rejoin to hear the verdict, Philippe doesn't hold back and tells them what he really thinks of their projects. Some he finds ambitious, others pointless and one that he finds just kooky. Which products will be refined into working prototypes?

Annie Hall
Woody Allen's 1977 romantic comedy, Annie Hall, follows the up and down relationship of two mismatched New York neurotics. Jewish comedy writer Alvy Singer (Allen) ponders the modern quest for love and his past romance with tightly-wound WASP singer Annie Hall (Diane Keaton).
Hailed as Allen's most mature and personal film, Annie Hall beat Star Wars for Best Picture and also won an Oscars for Allen as director and writer and for Keaton as Best Actress; audiences enthusiastically responded to Allen's take on contemporary love and turned Keaton's rumpled menswear into a fashion trend.
Annie Hall also represented the peak of America's love affair with stand-up comic turned filmmaker and film star Woody Allen.
Woody Allen's classic film season continues next week with his 1979 iconic New York romantic comedy - Manhattan.
