(Make circles with hands)

Keiki Storytime

The Drop Goes Plop: A First Look at the Water Cycle by Sam Godwin (J 551.48 Go)

Water heats up and rises in the sky, Rises in the sky, Rises in the sky, Water heats up and rises in the sky, That's evaporation!

(Jump up in the air)

Water droplets make new clouds, Make new clouds, Make new clouds, Water droplets make new clouds, That's condensation!

(Link arms in a circle)

Clouds weigh too much and water falls down, Water falls down, Water falls down, Clouds weigh too much and water falls down, That's precipitation!

(Crouch on floor and stand)

Water hits the ground and spreads around, Spreads around, Spreads around, Water hits the ground and spreads around,

The cycle starts again!

(Sit on floor and spread out arms)

What's in a Word?

Cycle comes from the Greek word kyklos, which means "circle or wheel."

How it works Water moving `round and `round! Think about the song you sang. Water goes through all the steps in the verses of the song. Then it begins again. Uncle says it will always repeat this pattern.
