Referrals:

I'd like to ask that if you have puppies available, litters due soon, or adults looking for homes...please send an email to Krys at sheltieinfo@ (or kmesser@) with a brief note to let her know the basics like age, color, sex. This is a great help in keeping the info current and available to pass on to callers or email inquiries. Thanks!

A message from the Web Mistress . . .

It has been suggested we offer a page on our website to list shelties that our club members need to place in homes. This could be litters, older puppies or young adults that didn't turn out, retired adults, etc. Our very own Classified section... ? Anything you would like listed should be emailed to me (amybutcher@bio.unc.edu). Dates of birth rather than age please, is the only request I have since a 12-week old puppy will only be 12 weeks old for a week... I also wish to remind everyone to think about adding a "Spotlight" to our members pages. Only a few are up so far - go visit them to see what is there, then create your own, or contact me (that would be Amy) about having one created for you.

Lastly, if there is any news (upcoming events maybe) or information anyone would like to share on the website, please just drop me an email with details.

From Jubilee:

• YAHOO!!! Miss Sara, aka "Jubilee Fire N Brimstone" is now officially a CHAMPION. I'll have to double check but I think she was out showing for only 8 weeks!!!!! Thanks go to Nick and Joel for not giving up on her 3 weeks ago when her coat started coming out in clumps. She picked up her last point Saturday (9/6) in PA under Judge Trotter. Sara is Maggie's daughter. That's 2 finished CHs in one year. Mom and daughter. Pretty cool! Nick & Joel - THANK YOU. Thanks to all of you for your encouragement and compliments. It was a whirlwind of fun.

• I am so excited to announce that a new puppy has joined the Jubilee Gang. He is Laureate Latitude. I brought him home from Canada on Labor Day Weekend. He is only 5 months old and growing up right now. We wish to thank Kim Aston and Peter Culumovic of Laureate Shelties for sharing this wonderful boy with us. He is a Can/Ch Laureate Landslide out of Can/Ch Laureate Meringue (a City Slicker daughter). He will be a great addition to the Jubilee home and we have high hopes he will be a great addition to North Carolina. Look forward to seeing him in the ring with Nick & Joel when he is ready.

From Barwood:

• A new champion to report—Ch. Gor-don Barwood Promise Me, Ch. Barwood Firelights, dam, and Ch. Barwood The Paper Chase, sire.

From Emerald Valley:

Great news from Emerald Valley! If everyone has been wondering where Kristy has been, we’ve had computer problems which are now fixed. We will be back on e-mail very soon. But the best is all the great news we have to share!

• Emerald’s Stocks and Bonds “Trevor”, now co-owned with Mark and Katie Teichert (TNT Shelties) now has 12 pts with one major. Darlene, Sarah and I went up to the Marion, Ohio shows on July 7 where we met up with Mark and Katie. Trevor and Katie went Winners Dog on July 7 under Judge Corky Gauger. Thank you Katie and Judge Corky Gauger for Trevor’s “first” major. It won’t be long and we will be announcing Emerald Valley’s first Home-Bred Champion. . .

• Also we are so proud of Darlene Soblothe, co-owner and handler of Emerald’s All That Jazz, “Jazzi”. Jazzi and Darlene went Winners Bitch and Best of Winners at the Charleston Beach KC under Judge Houston Clark. Darlene is a novice, she trained Jazzi all by herself. The very best thing that happened through our co-ownership is that we have become great friends. We also cannot wait for the arrival of Trevor and Jazzi’s pups.

• We are also pleased to announce Emerald’s Southern Charm, “Miss Dixie” (handled by Nick and Joel) was graciously awarded her first major by Judge Leah James (giving her 6 points with 1 major). The show took place at the Riverside West KC in New Orleans on May 15. Thank you Nick and Joel for helping us achieve our dreams and taking such good care of Vanna and now her daughter.

A few miscellaneous things . . .

• Emerald’s Crystal Ball “Crystal” is Miss January in the 2004 Keynote calendar. Thank you Dianne for taking a great picture.

• Most recently I’ve been interviewed by the Durham Herald Sun, “People & Places”. I am so very flattered to have been asked. Look for the article in the Sunday, October 5 paper.

Sorry to be so long winded but as you can see, we’ve had a busy summer. Best of luck to everyone this fall!
