All of the funds raised through this event will go towards medical care at Children’s Hospital Oakland, Northern California’s only independent not-for-profit regional medical center for children. Children’s is the local Miracle Network Hospital and has been committed to caring for the region and state’s sickest children for almost 100 years. Children like 11-year-old Ariel who has been a Children’s Hospital patient since she was diagnosed with cancer in 2007.

“Being a parent in the Bay Area and having the choice of some of the finest medical institutions available to us, we chose Children's Hospital Oakland for a reason,” said Ariel’s mother, Crystal. “We wanted to make sure our daughter was getting specialized care not just for her disease, but for her age. Children's is the only hospital in Northern California that can guarantee pediatric specialists and only pediatric specialists.”

The upcoming “Country Cares for Kids Radiothon” event will raise awareness and support for the medical center, in addition to offering listeners a chance to hear from patients, like Ariel, who has been cancer-free for two years. Patient families will be on their air to share firsthand stories of strength and healing and the family-centered support and care offered at Children’s Hospital Oakland.
