Davidson. To increase the response rate, a couple modifications were made to this database. Dr. Davidson reduced the entire Eastern Illinois University student population to those students under the age of 26 and also made additional reductions using a random numbers generator. After completing these steps, randomness and distribution of sample were examined by looking at the birthdates by year. Because these figures of the final sample size were representative of EIU students, the emails were then sent out to 4,865 Eastern Illinois University students’ Panthermail accounts. This online survey was initiated on December 1, 2012, and was closed on December 10, 2012.Of those contacted to participate in the online survey, 1096 (22.5%) initiated the survey, while 870 (17.9%) students completed the survey. This is a 79.4% completion rate.right360045Survey ResultsHow many concerts have you attended in the past 12 months?*(Chart - # of Concert in past 12 months)36.6% of participants have attended 0 concerts in the past year.36.2% have attended 1-2 concerts.14.5% have attended 3-4 concerts.6.2% have attended 5-6 concerts. The remaining 6.5% reported having attended 7 or more concerts in the past year.Names of Performers/Artists headlining the concerts attended:Name of Artist/Band# of Participants who attendedLuke Bryan77Jason Aldean 57REO Speed Wagon 55Rascal Flatts 37Wiz Khalifia 37Eric Church 34Bassnectar 30Mac Miller 30Jake Owen 23Drake 22Kenny Chesney 22Brad Paisley 21Dave Mathews Band 20Black Shelton 19Toby Keith 19Brantley Gilbert 18Pretty Lights 18Tim McGraw 18Big Gigantic 15Justin Moore 13Zeds Dead 13Carrie Underwood 12Miranda Lambert 12Rick Ross 12Skirllex 12Taylor Swift 12Warped Tour 12Hunter Hayes 10Little Big town 10FUN 10Red Hot Chili Peppers 10Timeflies 10righttopHow likely are you to attend a major concerts event at EIU?*(Chart – Likeliness to attend an EIU Concert)43.5% of participants responded that they are very likely to attend a major concert event at EIU.33.8% stated that they are likely to attend a concert event.13.7% responded as being neutral.2.9% of the respondents are unlikely to attend a major concert event at EIU.6.1% responded that it is very unlikely that they will attend a major concert event at EIU.What is the maximum ticket price you are willing to spend on a major concert artist/event at EIU?Student participants responded with a range from $0-$200. 82% of student responses fell between $20-$50.Mean = $29.97Median = $28.00Favorite Genre*(Chart – Favorite Genre)The participants were asked to rank six music genres in order from 1 (greatest interest) to 6 (least interest). If youcannot have alumni prices, think of releasing alumnitickets after student tickets but before general admission.VenueHave it be an outdoor concert, such as the quad.2It would be really cool to see it in the basketball stadium.Make sure the doors open when they say they will have two entrances one for people with tickets andone for people that are buying at the door.Use the gym floor as a big dance floor for all studentsat a general price.OtherI am part of a Student Organization that fosters the awareness of electronic music genres here at EIU. We have held events off-campus with artists such as Spankalicious and DJ SOLO who have appeared at music festivals nation-wide. We have over a year of experience promoting and organizing events. Essentially, me and the rest of the organization would love to do whatever we can to help make an electronic show not only possible, but a huge success. The club I refer to is DubClub. Let us know if there is any way we can help, this is what we do.Find other ways besides sending emails to get students to participate in your surveys; certain students do not check their panther mail frequently. It is a great idea to ask students about their interest though. Maybe have a table in the union or quad to have students fill out information like this. ................
