Application

Eligibility Requirements:

• Less than 5 years of work experience in the HR profession

• Current member of Richmond SHRM (Exceptions may apply. Please contact the Awards Committee with questions.)

Our Rising Star Award recipient will display one or more of following:

• Successful work and performance in business situations not normally associated with those new to the HR profession.

• Innovative, creative and/or “out of the box” thinking to resolve a problem or complete a project.

• Significant impact to the Human Resources function and/or reputation within the organization.

• Excellence through creativity, new ideas, new programming.

• Highly effective utilization of well-regarded principles of HR (i.e., SHRM competencies).

• Less than 5 years of experience in the HR profession.

Provide detailed information on how or why you are a Rising Star within the HR profession.

• Please provide enough information to help our judges understand how your work made an impact (i.e., measurable results, feedback from employees), aligned with overall company goals or initiatives, or made it clear that you are on your way to great success within the HR profession.

Examples of information to be covered include, but are not limited to:

• Description of the need identified by the business that warranted your creativity, innovation, ideas, etc.

• Explanation of how your work or efforts related to or align with your company’s business goals, mission, and/or values.

• Details on the quantitative and qualitative result(s) of your project, work, or contributions. (Survey results, resources or money saved, improvements in employee engagement or participation, reduced turnover, etc.)

• Explanation of unusual circumstances, obstacles or challenges you overcame to make a positive impact. (Lack of expertise, reduced resources, unexpected events, etc.)
