THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL

INT-Space

We see the Earth-massive in its size as it fills the screen. The sun is reflecting off the water below.

Then, we follow something coming in really fast.

It’s on fire as it enters the hot atmosphere; we see it almost as it is boiling.

CONT-NASA

We see all the satellite maps and one in particular on a guy’s screen shows a red dot and a target symbol.

Guy

Hey-boss, come here!

The boss walks over to the screen, obviously an intruder of some kind.

Boss

Alert the military! We’ve got something from space-consider it an attack. Get every known unit as a response system! Go!

INT-Military Base-Evening

Men go outside with large guns and tanks as they see the object in the sky, however, it has a BRIGHT white glare because of the sun reflecting on it.

The men take a closer look at it, it’s headed west, and it’s coming fast.

General

It’s going to Horse Town-some surprise there!

We see it go out of view as we now follow the object; it crashes in some corn fields.

EXT-Night-country-Later

We see tall crop on a dirt country road at night, the moon is out, we see headlights of a truck approach as…

Were inside the car, a farmer, HENRY PLANE, 60’s, is driving.

We see him in the usual farmer outfit: John Deere hat, and blue overalls with a striped red T-shirt underneath.

His radio dies down.

After trying to tune it a few times, he bangs on the radio itself.

Henry

Damn radio!

He stops his car at a crop field. The crops are so tall that they are well over his car.

He closes the truck door, and looks at the crops, squinting his eyes. He goes to the back of the truck, gets out a flashlight out of his toolbox, shuts the tool box, and walks over to the crops.

He reaches them, the flashlight turned on as he brushes the crops out of the way with his hands.

We hear movement to the right as Henry moves the flashlight towards the sound.

Nothing

He continues walking and finds it to be eerily quiet.

He stops, look for a way to walk.

He then, sees something, a red light.

Henry

What the?

He walks over to where he thinks it is, and then he notices the red light is now where he just walked.

Henry then calls Horse Town communications network.

Or at least he tries to.

When he can’t get a signal, he throws his radio down, and picks it up, to notice the light is now blue.

He moves his head in confusion, he walks towards something, he shines the light there quickly, but it’s just a hole.

He hears his engine die from the truck.

He tries running towards the truck but he can’t find it.

He runs around, and around, and around, only to find he is back where he started.

Henry

I should’ve taken a shotgun.

He walks towards a glow of some sort, and then his flashlight mysteriously turns off, as if the energy is sucked from it.

He then notices a bunch of crop circles destroyed, and sees a light.

He walks towards it, putting his hand over his mouth, seeing a red and blue dim light at the bottom, a ship on the ground.

A man emerges from the smoke

Henry runs and runs and runs. Looking back at the object, and then, finding his car.

He hops in it, tries to turn it on but it just sputters.

Then he sees a huge red glare in the crop circles.

His eyes grow wide.

EXT-same location-afternoon

The next day, tons of investigators investigate the scene.

Henry’s car is gone, but no Henry.

MIKE JOHNSON, 30’s, investigator

MIKE

Henry’s car, but no Henry

Rookie DONNA is by his side, it is sunny out

Donna

How do you know his name?

Mike

When you’ve lived in Horse town for a few years, you get to know him, he is really famous here.

Donna

Is it true?

She puts white gloves on.

Mike

Is what true?

Donna

The stories about Horse Town being the most active UFO spot on Earth.

Mike

When you’ve lived here for a few months, you won’t have to ask me again.

Donna

Why?

He looks at her and stops.

Mike

Because you’ll know the answer

He walks away and she looks down.

EXT-CIA Investigation Unit

Mike talks to Scott

Scott, 20’s, tall, brown hair

Scott

It’s never been solved as to why Horse Town experiences so much activity. Maybe it sits in a radioactive spot?

Mike

If I were an alien, what would I want with a small town in Alabama?

Scott

Read this letter.

Mike holds a crumbled up yellow page letter.

Mike

What’s this?

Scott

A paper from the 1800’s about UFO’s.

Mike

How did YOU get hold of this? Raid a small house?

Scott

Actually…….Yes, Henry went missing and we found letters from his basement, though it looked like it had been inhabited recently.

Mike thinks hard.

Mike

Find Henry, if he knows anything about this, get his ass down here.

Scott

Yes sir.

Mike takes a hard look at the paper.

INT-Henry’s house

Scott closes the door and we see him walk towards a dusty old house, a very old house. He knocks on the door.

A little boy comes out.

He cracks the door just incase it’s somebody like a robber.

Weak voice

Little Boy

Um…..yes?

Scott

Hi, my name is Scott

Ronaldson is your mother or guardian here by any chance.

His mother opens the door; a beautiful woman comes out, telling the boy to go back to the TV

Scott sees her striking beauty, but finds words.

Scott

Hi are you Sharon Plane, Henry’s daughter?

Sharon is blonde, tall, smart

Sharon

Yes.

Scott

CIA ma’am

Sharon

Oh-did he steak from McDonald’s again?!

Scott

No, no. We just…found….uh, something you may be aware of.

He hands her the paper from a few minutes ago.

She breaks down and cries.

Scott

Uh..i’m sorry if it’s bad, I didn’t know. But what I MUST know is who wrote the letter?

Sharon

My grandmother did, when she was a little girl.

Scott

That information is vital; we need to know if it warns of something.

Sharon

It talks about the UFO’s here for Horse Town

Scott

What about the rest of the paper?

Sharon

It’s a secret.

She closes the door on him.

CONT-Inside the house

The little boy, BILLY, is watching TV, it is dark in the house, the blinds are closed, and she runs to the basement.

She opens the door, it closes and creaks behind her, she sets the paper down on the desk.

A beam of sunlight reaches on the wooden desk, with the lamp off, we see HENRY sitting there sleeping, math problems all around him.

EXT-CIA

Scott runs into Mike’s office.

Scott

Mike-hey, I went to the house.

Mike

And?

Scott

I don’t know-they are being very secretive about this.

Mike sets his hand on the desk.

Mike

They know something we don’t. They obviously know why this is occurring, but not saying anything. Everything ties back to them, did the girl say anything to you-anything we should know about.

Scott

I asked her about the paper and she said it was a family secret.

Mike

They know exactly we they are here. Did you do a family check up?

Scott

Well, yes, and nothing, everything just disappeared.

Mike

Find out why these things are here, please.

Scott

From who?

Mike

Bring the girl into protective custody, send her here.

INT-Henry’s house

Henry opens the blinds from an upstairs window, watching Sharon being taken by the cops; she looks up at him, tears in her eyes.

He quickly goes to grab the BIBLE, flipping to: THE BOOK OF REVEALATIONS

INT-Interrogation

Sharon sits with a tissue, watery eyes; she holds a tissue in her right hand.

Mike comes in, and sits down.

Mike

Good afternoon

She doesn’t talk.

Mike

No answer. Well, guess I have to play tough guy now. What do you know?

Sharon

It’s a family secret, I’m not telling you.

Mike

This is crucial here. I mean, what’s more important, keeping your secret or telling it to the world.

She then shakes uncontrollably, the tears weld up in her eyes, and she yells.

Sharon

DON’T HURT THEM!!

She then continues crying, Mike has an expression on his face like a sarcastic “yeah”.

Mike

We just want to know why there here, and if there here.

Sharon

I’m not telling you! You’re going to hurt them if I tell you where they are, I’m no traitor, so I won’t. Maybe they are here to protect us, ever thought of that?

Mike

I’m just here to do my job, miss.

We just want to know where they are. And we would like to know why they’ve stayed for over 100 years.

Sharon suddenly looks at him, knowing he made a reference to the letter.

Mike

Look, I need an answer.

Sharon

They don’t want to hurt anyone!!

Mike

Then why have they?!

Sharon

Because people like you didn’t listen!! You don’t even know what aliens are, or why they are here.

Mike

I can always ask one.

Sharon

I won’t tell you.

Mike

Fine.

INT-jets-evening

Jets fly over the plains on there farm, looking for evidence.

As they fly low, the grass reacts to the wind; the jets go upward, seeing something.

Pilot

Hey! See that down there-what is that!

Just then, BOOM!!

He got shot at by something, he crashes into the ground.

An army of jets come, some sharing the same fate.

Then we see what it was: GORT.

Gort is a gigantic robot.

One jet flies into his hand, he crushes it, and tosses it aside as it lands on the ground, spinning

Then, we see the space ship, just sitting there, now it turns night.

The ships motors start, and out steps someone: KLAATO.

He walks out of the ship; the jets are no longer there.

KLAATO

I don’t need protection right now Gort.

Gort shuts off, now standing by the ship; Klaato walks towards the Plane’s house.

Knock, Knock, Knock!

Henry opens the door, Klaato looks at him, and Henry quickly gets him inside, down to the basement and locks it up.

Billy doesn’t think anything of it, and goes back to watching the TV.

Klaato sits in a chair, Henry looks out the window that normal basements have, and he tries his best to cover it up.

Henry shows Klaato some math.

Henry

I didn’t know you were here until the other night.

Klaato

I meant you no harm.

Henry

I know-it just threw my off guard, please tell me it’s not time yet.

Klaato

It is time.

Henry

Please just give us a few more years.

Klaato

I do not control the time in which this happens.

Henry looks down.

Henry

How long do we have?

Klaato

YOU don’t have enough time.

Henry

All this time you’ve been causing this over the world! Roswell! Area 51!

Klaato

We were trying to warn you.

Henry

Warn us of what?

Klaato

I can’t say.

Henry

You need to get out of here! If they find out that you’re hiding in my house they—they’ll just kill you.

Klaato

They won’t have time to find me.

Henry

They already suspect something to be here!!!

Klaato

I’m sorry we have to do this.

Henry

But we can make peace!!

Klaato

It is out of my power to change prophecy.

Henry

I’m warning you that they will kill me if they find out that we’ve known about this for over 100 years!!

Klaato

They won’t have time.

Henry

When does it all begin?

Klaato

Henry tries to offer him something to drink

Henry

Would you like me to go get some orange juice?

Klaato

That would be nice.

Henry leaves, as he goes out the door, Billy is in the doorway looking at Klaato, Klaato looking at Billy.

Henry comes back with the orange juice, he looks the basement door, and the lamp light is on. Klaato sets the orange juice down on the table.

Henry

How long did we have to know about this?

Klaato

Over 100 years. We’ve left crop circles, messages, and Roswell.

Henry

Was Roswell a suicide mission?

Klaato looks a little emotional, but soon shakes it off.

Klaato

I would rather not talk about it.

Henry

I think we both share the same belief of not turning you into the CIA.

Klaato

They would just harm us.

Henry

If you come in peace, then why do you intend to hurt the human race?

Klaato

I have no other choice.

Henry

What about my grandson?

Henry tears up

Henry

Is he going to be alright when it happens?

Klaato

As long as he doesn’t interfere

Henry

So you guys aren’t nice.

Klaato

I have to take my place in the end of time.

Henry

How would you know about all of this??

Klaato looks down

Klaato

It’s hard to understand.

Henry suddenly asks a question.

Henry

Is the end going to be like we’ve portrayed?

Klaato

Do you mean in religious terms or no?

Henry

Both.

Klaato

Revelations already explained it to you.

Henry

Will it be like any alien invasion we have though of?

Klaato

We have already invaded.

Henry

THEN HOW BAD WILL IT BE?!

Klaato

Bad? It will be much worse than bad. But you’re a man of faith; you should have nothing to fear.

Klaato remembers something

Klaato

Your daughter was brought into protective custody earlier today. Did she ever say anything?

Henry

She wouldn’t dare rat you out. Will you harm our military?

Klaato

Only if they try to harm us, then, yes-yes I will.

Henry gulps

Henry

Sharon’s husband is in the military.

Klaato looks like his feels compassion, but he doesn’t show it.

Klaato

The military will no longer be needed. We shut down their systems later on tonight.

Henry

Are you crazy!?

Klaato

No, I’m just doing my job.

Henry

Just tell me her husband Matt will be ok.

Klaato

I can’t make that promise.

Henry cries.

Klaato

I’m sorry, but there is nothing you can do.

Henry

Yes, yes there is.

EXT-Bar

People watch in a bar TV as Fox News anchor Bill O’Reily comes on.

Super: BREAKING NEWS

Bill O’reily

Well tonight we have some surprising news, ranging from odd UFO encounters and eye witness in Horse Town, to the U.S. Naval Base experiencing technical difficulties. Could the encounter there, have some effect the Naval academy?

EXT-U.S Naval Air Base

It’s evening, but there are some dark clouds, making the lights on the planes and the buildings very visible.

INT-Inside Base

Tons of people work telecommunicates, talking to pilots.

The lights flicker.

INT-Jet

Inside the jet goes dark and since it’s cloudy out he can’t see

Pilot

I can’t see! I can’t see help now!

Officer (O.S) V.O)

I’m trying, but our power is flickering and we---

They lose communication as the power reboots.

INT-Jet

We see the naval jet spiraling and spinning out of control, it tries to land on the runway but when it does it bounces and explodes, rolling a few times.

As we hear the flames burning, rain comes down.

We hear words from the radio get sputter and die down by the rain.

Radio

Woo….woo…...woo…g

Then it fries, we see smoke coming out of it.

EXT-Sharon

Sharon watches from prison, crying because she is confused, and because she hopes it’s not her husband.

EXT-Henry

Henry now looks at Klaato, who has one heck of a serious loom on his face.

Henry

I can’t believe you just did that!?

Klaato

I had no other choice.

Henry

Her husband might have been on that thing!!!!

Klaato

He wasn’t on it.

Henry

How can you say you’re assisting God in Armageddon when you just killed one of his creatures!!

Klaato

I have said this before: I had no other choice.

Henry pushes Klaato out of anger, but he does not move.

Henry

You are not protecting us!!!

Klaato

We only protect the ones we are assigned to protect.

Henry

So you’re assigned to me!? What if I disagree and walk out on you! Then what!?

Klaato

Then you give me a right to kill you.

Henry

Just me?

Klaato

Are you in charge of the family?

Henry

Yes.

Klaato

Then you put them in danger too, if you decide to walk out.

Henry puts his hands behind his head, not knowing what to do.

Klaato walks out of the doorway, and suddenly Henry doesn’t have that much respect for him, but he does ask him a question that puts him on the spot, right in front of Billy, who is watching TV still.

Henry

So you would kill Matt if you had to?!

After a long pause

Klaato

Yes.

Billy tries to punch Klaato, but Klaato catches his punch and gently sets his arm back down.

Klaato walks out of the door.

We hear a click of a gun.

Klaato stops, freezes, and turns around only to see Henry pointing a gun at Klaato

Henry

Don’t do this!

Klaato

This is what I was born to do.

Henry

If you do this I will kill you!!!

Klaato

You can try to shoot me, and see how that works out for you.

BOOM!!

We hear a gun shot and the bullet we see spiraling towards Klaato’s head, but it stops suddenly, and melts to the floor.

Klaato turns around, and then walks out of the house.

Henry breaks down and cries, then looks up towards Heaven.

Klaato walks out into the pasture.

The pasture is all grass with way out in the front begins the crop circles.

It is evening.

Klaato walks all the way out towards Gort, and Gort gets up and follows Klaato back to the space ship.

Klaato gives one look back, and then gets in the ship.

Henry cries, and then wipes his tears; he gets in his truck, and leaves Billy behind.

Billy watches his grandfather leave as he bawls up on the coach and cries, scared for his life. He is at home, alone, with aliens on the property.

Henry races towards the spaceship.

He has an angry loom on his face.

He then remembers Sharon in the CIA Prison, so he heads over there.

He gets out, armored trucks and guards are outside, and they then pull a struggling and kicking Henry to the ground.

They cuff him, and bring him in.

INT- Interrogation Room

They bring him in the room, but before that the door buzzes, and they sit him down, guarding the room. One guard heads over to Scott and Mike’s office, which are getting ready to go home for the day.

Guard

Sir, look what Santa brought us.

He points towards Henry, and mike and Scott drop their stuff, smile at each other and run toward the door.

BUZZ!

The interrogation room’s door opens, now 20 guards man it alone.

Mike and Scott sit, Henry staring at them.

Mike

You can’t run anymore Henry.

Henry

I don’t want to.

Scott

Then tell us what’s going on here. This is a crisis situation.

Henry

We can’t stop it, we’re all doomed.

Scott puts out a tape recorder.

Scott

Henry, listen to me if you want to save yourself from going to jail, tell us everything right now.

Henry remembers the threat Klaato gave him, that if he told; Henry and his family would not be protected in Armageddon.

Henry

If I tell-my family and I will be subject to die in—

He stops himself just before he says it.

Mike caught it though.

Mike

What are you talking about? We promise you’ll be fine.

Henry thinks in his mind back to the 1800’s about what inspired his mother to write the letter.

IN HENRY’S MIND: a flashback to the 1800’s a UFO touches down, Henry’s mother SANDRA runs away, locks a door and writes.

Present day: Henry contemplates whether he should tell.

Mike signals some men and through the glass Henry sees Sharon being transported to solitary.

Henry

We will do it if you don’t tell.

Henry looks at Sharon mouth the word “no”, as in don’t tell.

Scott

Do you have the letter?

Henry then realizes he left it at home.

Henry

Oh…oh no.

Mike

What?

Henry

The letter is at home…with HIM

Scott

Tell us!

Henry comes to a decision after a while of thinking.

Henry

Ok…fine I’ll tell.

We see someone who is shocked: Klaato

He watches from the window in the hallway, we see a CIA badge on him.

Some men know he’s fake and try to arrest him but he takes his hand and shoves it half-way into their forehead, freezing them. As he walks away, the man falls to the ground.

Some men rush over to him, some shoot a moving Klaato, but the bullets bounce off.

Klaato walks out of the building, Gort isn’t there, so Klaato rides on a bus.

In the bus, he looks at the people, realizing the ones he will save and the ones he won’t.

EXT-CIA Interrogation Room

Henry talks, Scott and Mike listen

Henry

Their here for…..Armageddon

Scott is in shock and Mike is speechless

Henry then makes a break for it, opening the door and running out of the place.

Guards chase after him as he gets in his truck, and drives away, police cars following him.

He drives faster and faster down the dirt roads the cop cars finding it hard to chase him.

INT-Henry’s Farm

He stops the truck at his house; he bursts into the door, looking around for Billy.

The TV is on, the radio in the distance playing oldies.

He checks the basement; nope he is not in there.

He goes upstairs; it’s now on the verge of night outside.

The lights are dim in the upstairs hallway, only adding to the eeriness.

He pushes every door open, each one creaking.

He turns to see an alien in a human form standing at the end of the hallway, he blinks his eyes and he is gone.

He runs into a room and checks a window; he sees a flying-saucer, a HUGE flying saucer getting ready to take off, or something else.

Billy walks towards it.

Henry suddenly runs out of the room and bursts out of the door.

Klaato is on the porch, Henry sees him

Henry

STOP HIM!!!

Klaato

I can’t.

Henry

Why not?!

Klaato

You told the CIA on us.

Henry

I had no other choice. You don’t understand!

Klaato

I warned you of this unprotect ion if you disobeyed; now, I have to begin even sooner.

Henry

No!! Stop it!!

Police cars come onto the property, Henry looks at Klaato walk on the pasture like it’s nothing.

Police get out of their cars.

They shoot at him but Klaato freezes them and the bullets in time.

He walks towards Gort who is rising.

Henry

You used that to your advantage!!

Klaato walks on.

EXT-New York City

Saucers are over New York City.

People get out of their cars, some run.

Kid

Mommy, look!

She grabs her son and runs away.

She runs past a church to which a priest walks out.

It’s now night and he runs to get his bible.

The red lights of the saucers move, now, the saucers stop in mid-air.

People stop running, but they still back away.

EXT-NASA

NASA is now receiving a video of different short videos of aliens in every day life, they look astonished.

EXT-Chapel

The priest looks in the bible to find the words Armageddon, Revelations, and antichrist

He takes a piece of paper with a pencil, writes an “A” from Armageddon. He writes an “L” form Revelations. An “I” from antichrist, and he pauses.

He looks at what he has so far: ALI

He writes an “E” from Revelations, an “N” from Armageddon, and an “S” from Revelations.

He looks at the full word: ALIENS

He realizes it was a message, he begins to cry, and looks at the cross.

EXT-Outside

The saucers still stay in mid air. A red glow is around the rim underneath them, but not coming out of them.

The priest runs outside, looking at the saucers and carrying a cross in his hand. He moves it as though performing an exorcism.

He runs inside and grabs a phone, and dials a number.

INT-Henry

Is phone rings as we realize the priest called him.

Henry

Hello!?

Priest

Yes! Henry? It’s me-Don.

Henry

Yeah-not a good time!

Priest

I found the word aliens with the end time reference you were trying to find!

Henry is shocked but he continues running.

Priest

Pray that you get saved.

Don hangs up; Henry throws the phone to go get Billy.

Billy walks towards the space ship, Henry chases after him but a car stops right in front of him, he has to come to a halt.

Gort rises up; police aim their guns at him.

Officer

Hey! Hey go get that kid!

As an officer runs to go get Billy, Klaato sticks his hand in the guys chest, the guy falls to the ground.

EXT-prison

Sharon is locked up in her cell.

She bangs on the cell doors and starts crying, nobody is around as the lights flicker.

She hears a door open…….

It creaks; she backs up in the cell corner.

Sharon

Hello?

She hears nothing

Sharon

Who’s there!!!?

Just then, Billy appears into view, she is glad to see him, he unlocks the cell and she hugs him.

He goes into her cell, mean look on his face.

She backs up in a corner.

Sharon

…Billy?

His head then turns into an aliens head, Sharon screams.

EXT-New York City

Police choppers roam the skies, trying to get a close up of the UFO’s.

They just stand there in mid air, almost like they are waiting for a command.

INT-Henry’ Farm

Henry is still caught behind the cry, which he tries to run towards Billy, but the cops hold him back for safety.

Klaato is still being shot at; the bullets bounce of as he then turns around, the bullets bouncing of his face.

He sticks his left hand out in mid air while bullets come; his hand shakes and the bullets disintegrate.

The cops flee back to their cars.

Cop

I need backup!

He shouts at Klaato

Cop

No hostile activity will be required!!!

Klaato turns around.

Klaato

It’s a little late to warn me.

Henry gets out of the cops grip and runs toward Klaato

Henry

Klaato!!!

Klaato turns around and listens

Henry

Please, don’t do this. I thought you were trying to do us a favor.

Klaato

I warned you that if you became a traitor to us, you would no longer be protected.

Henry

You don’t understand!!

Klaato

You told our plan. You traded us in, this wasn’t supposed to be found out.

Henry

Listen to me!

Klaato

The rules were that if our plan ever got discovered, we have to act quickly and with force, or else you will.

Henry

Me?

Klaato

No-your species

Henry

God won’t allow this!

Klaato

He is.

Henry

Klaato, come inside, maybe we can reason with you!!

Klaato listens, and he walks back in the basement with Henry, and cops stand in the doorway.

INt-Overhead

Over the house, police helicopters fly, noticing all the cop cars with the blinking lights.

Gort stands monition less.

The cops get out of the helicopters, and run towards Gort.

EXT-Basement

Klaato is sitting down.

Officer

Please, stop this.

Klaato

I cannot, Earth has had plenty of opportunities for people to straighten things out.

Henry

Klaato, you don’t understand what they would’ve done to my family!!!

Klaato

But you understood what I would’ve done.

Police

Don’t use deadly force and maybe we can come to an agreement!!!

Klaato

I have been given orders.

Henry

They were going to find out the secret of the letter anyway!!!

Klaato

You didn’t even know the secret.

Henry

I had an idea.

Klaato

Over 100 years ago, I came in contact with your mother. She wrote the letter so her future family members would not tell on us.

Henry

But I didn’t know!

Klaato

You said you had an idea.

Police

What have you done with the boy?

Klaato

What have YOU done with him? Seems you forgot about him.

Some officers run out of the house, flashlights searching for Billy.

Henry stands up, looking out of the basement doorway.

Klaato emerges and some officers try to hold him back, but he cuts off their air, and they fall to the ground.

Henry steps over them and runs in front of him.

Henry

You’re being ruthless!

Klaato

Your species has been ruthless.

Klaato is stopped by Henry, Klaato turns around as Henry tries to hit him with a frying pan, the pan melts a little, and Klaato throws it against the stove, Henry ducks as the frying pan makes a huge dent in the wall an the top of the stove.

Tons of officers come for Klaato’s arrest, surrounding him.

One officer points a gun right at his head.

Klaato

You don’t want to test me.

The officer cocks the gun, but klaato bends and smashes it, the bullets are forces into flat pieces of lead.

The officer stares at the gun as Klaato pushes his way through some officers.

But more surround him.

EXT-Fields-Night

Some cops run after Billy as he walks towards the big blue glow on the ground.

Gort doesn’t wake up yet.

Billy walks towards it with awe.

Somebody attempts to push Klaato, this wake Gort up.

We see eye activate, a piercing orange light comes on, and Billy stops as he sees this.

The cops also stop, some back up, some point assault rifles at Gort.

Mike steps out of a vehicle, and goes into the forest.

He sees the blue glow, a huge light as he keeps walking.

SMASH!!

Mike falls and slides down as Gorts gigantic right foot stomps right in front of him, smashing trees and sending some dust.

He crawls up on Gorts foot.

He begins trying to crawl up Gort.

Mike looks up, Gort looks down

Mike looks down at the ground, come police cars coming right by Gorts foot.

Mike

What are you crazy!!??

Police

Mike, get down from there-you’re crazy.

Mike begins talking as Gort sends a laser beam down at Mike; some of Gorts foot catches fire but dies down, a small explosion in front of the cops.

But Mike falls to the ground, burnt and shriveled up.

The police officers attempt to run back as Gort starts walking out of the forest.

The cop running out of the forest grabs Billy and put him on his shoulder, Billy looks back at Gort who is still walking.

Bullets being fired at him dent and bounce off him.

INT-Henry’s House

Klaato looks at this scene, officers surrounding him, Henry talking.

Henry

Can’t you stop him!!!

Henry was inferring to Gort.

Klaato

I can. But he is coming here to protect me. And so we can begin leaving.

Henry looks around at the cops as they think he means leaving Earth.

Henry

You’re going to leave Earth?!

Klaato

No- I meant the farm.

Klaato steps into the front yard as Henry and the cops start shouting.

Gort crushes the grass with every step.

Klaato waits for Gort, who from a angle that we have behind Klaato, Gort looks humongous.

The cops look at it comes straight towards the house as they begin running away.

Klaato sees Billy being placed in Henry’s arms.

Klaato walks over towards Henry

Henry

You can’t take him.

Klaato

He is one we need to save.

Klaato takes Billy out of Henry’s hands, Henry and cops try to save Billy, But Klaato puts a force field around him and Gort, Gort bending down to get Billy.

Henry tries to force his way through the shield but obviously he can’t.

The force field follows them as they walk toward the space ship.

They begin reaching the shop.

EXT-House

A kid watches TV, his mother comes by.

Kid

Look mommy!

She looks at the TV, and sees Gort, Klaato, and Billy in the force field.

The mother puts her hands over her mouth.

Kid

I told you I wasn’t crazy!

EXT-Henry’s Farm

Helicopters fly by as we see the glowing force field below.

INT-Inside Force Field

Klaato holds Billy in his hands as they walk towards the space ship.

EXT-Henry

Henry and the cops stare at this.

Henry

Come on chase them!!

Henry and the cops get in a cop car, chasing the force field

INT-Overhead Shot

An overhead shot of the car chasing the moving force field on its right side, but not directly close to it.

They begin shooting at the force field, the bullets bounce off, butt they also dent the force field.

Klaato sees, Gort fires a laser at the car, the tire catches fire butt he keep going.

They arrive at the space ship, the shield suddenly shutting off, and the cop car that the cops and Henry are in almost runs into a tree because they don’t have a lot of light now.

Henry gets out of the car, but stays as he watches them disappear on the ship, and he watches Gort Stomps on the trees as the ship rises.

A blue light glows, and it rises up and begins flying away, Gort turning towards that direction and following it as he walks.

Henry

Oh my---follow them!!!

All the police cars follow Gort as the space ship already took off, Gort walks over a hill.

EXT-New York City-hours later-night

As the UFO that Klaato and Billy are in arrive in the New York skies, we see the same cops from before, and Henry in a plane that followed Gort.

Gort stops in the middle of a busy highway, people run out of their cars and run away.

Klaato’s UFO is now in the sky by the other UFO’s we saw before.

A man looks up as we hear an annoying sound, almost like a blow horn, as all the other UFO’s activate.

Some of their lights turn on, and we see Klaato look out of a window

Henry’s plane lands and he gets out, running in the road where some honking cars swerve, just missing him.

Hundreds of UFO’s flood the sky, Klaato’s UFO has a blue light under it where as all the other ones have a red light underneath.

Klaato’s UFO begins landing as most people on the sidewalks run away fast and frantically

It is almost touching down in the middle of the street.

We see a full image of Gort as the UFO looks small beside him as it floats down.

Cops begin pointing their guns toward this, some units rush in with their police cars, sirens on and lights flashing, getting out and pointing their guns at the ship.

Klaato’s UFO touches down in the middle of the street.

Police have their guns pointed toward it ferociously; one cocks his gun as we zoom in on it.

Gort looks down at the space ship.

The sip lands and cops have their guns pointed directly at it.

Police

Do Not Move!!

Gort sees this as a threat and shoots a laser down towards the cop, creating an explosion.

More cops wait right by the UFO

Some wait with rocket launchers.

Every thing is silent, until Klaato emerges from the ship

Nobody fires at him though.

He walks out, looks up into the sky at the other UFO’s, and Henry looks for Billy.

He walks up to Klaato

Henry

Where is Billy?

Billy is behind Klaato, Henry tries to rush over to him.

Henry suddenly bounces off something-again, the shield.

The force field is around Klaato and Billy, Klaato does this so no one can shoot him.

The force field flies up towards the other UFO’s

INT-Overhead

As we see the blue glow of the force field flying upward, jets fly around it and the force field lands on a UFO

Klaato steps out of the force field.

Billy won’t come near him.

Klaato

Your one of the ones I need to save.

Billy

What about Grandpa?

Klaato takes a long pause.

Klaato

I don’t know.

All the other UFO’s activate with the red lights, Klaato looks around at them.

Billy sees this too.

Billy

Please don’t do this to us!

Klaato

I have to do, what I have to do.

Billy looks at Klaato

Billy

Well I—

He falls as he backs up to much.

We see him fall, screaming as he reaches out his hand towards Klaato.

Klaato does not help him; he looks as he is falling closer towards the city.

Buildings getting bigger

Henry looks up and sees him falling.

Henry

Hey! Wait-someone do something!

Billy falls as the helicopters come towards him trying to get him to reach the rope.

Got it! He reaches the rope but the force of the stopped fall makes the helicopter spin around and around, Billy spins around, awful close to the blades.

Police officers try to do anything they can to save him.

As the chopper crashes into a building, exploding, Billy launches off the chopper.

He flies in mid air towards the ground.

Gort activates and catches him.

Henry is relieved.

Gort sets Billy down to Henry; Henry grabs him tighter than he ever did.

Henry

Don’t you dare do that ever again

Henry hugs him tight

Billy

Grandpa that was just like a movie!!

As they hug, everyone hears a rumble.

Police

What is that?

They see the ground shake

Henry

Are those…utility pipes?

Gort walks away, Henry chases after….

BOOM!!!

The water now rips from the ground, creating a huge wall of water coming right at them.

Every one runs as the water now comes down.

It crashes, most things obliterated as it comes in the street.

CONT-Streets

A man on another street in a car waits at a red light; in the rear view mirror he sees the water

Man

Holy crap!!

He starts the car anyway, he floors it and into the intersection he goes, except, his car is totally consumed by water, flipping a few times, then out of view.

INT-Henry

Henry runs with Billy as the water comes faster now, people get consumed, and go under the water.

Gort then leans down to protect them, the water Zaps past him, going at incredible speeds, but he blocks most of it.

EXT-Outer Space

The space Station emerges, an astronaut is outside fixing a tube, then looks back at the Earth, the massive Earth and he looks closely, he sees water rising slowly on continents. Of course, it’s really rising fast.

INT-Africa

We see jungles being washed away with water.

EXT-Hong Kong

The water crashes and kills people, annihilating buildings and everything in its path.

INT-Henry

As Henry is with Billy and Gort, who because of Gort’s massive size are well above the water, but it rises.

Henry notices something, he takes out his phone.

Henry talking to himself before the priest answers.

Henry

Their going to flood the Earth…….

INT-Henry’s Farm

The priest is in Henry’s basement, looking up bible quotes and references as the phone ringing startles him.

He picks it up.

Priest

Hello!?

Henry (V.O.)

It’s me!

Priest

Are you still in New York?!

Henry (V.O.)

Yes! But I’ve come to a realization about how this is going to end.

The priest looks out the window

Priest

How?

Henry (V.O.)

Look out the window, if you’re at the farm.

He looks out the basement window, he sees trees being swallowed up and the water coming at an incredibly fast pace

Priest

Oh my…….

He is shocked.

Henry (V.O)

Listen, if I don’t make it back and Sharon is there…..tell her I love her.

Priest

Sharon….never came home.

Henry

Any ideas on where she is?

Priest

Henry…

The priest realizes that he is in trouble; the water comes at full force towards the house

Priest

…I’ll go try to save her!

Click, dial tone.

Henry puts the cell phone in his pocket.

A massive plane comes by, a helicopter transports Billy and Henry into the plane, and tons of people are on it. It’s a plane with only two seats on the either side. It is near full.

People scream and holler as the mayor tries to cal them down

Mayor

Everything that is trying to be done is being done!!

People holler in disagreement

Henry

Their going to flood the earth!!

An angry “Yeah!” arises from everyone

Klaato then emerges In the back of the plane. The back of the plane is open.

Klaato

I’m sorry, but I cannot let this plane live.

As soon as he touches the side of the plane, the power goes out and it spirals out of control, people falling out of the plane.

But as soon as Henry and Billy start to fall, he creates a force field on the back of the plane, leaving it there and saving them.

He goes to the cockpit, and gets in the seat to fly the plane.

He saves it just as it is going into the water.

Billy then walks up to Klaato, with Henry

Henry

Why are you doing this!

Klaato

I have orders.

Billy then looks as the plane flies by the UFO’s

The Earth is flooding immensely below.

Klaato then gets up from the pilot seat, Stops the plane in mid air, he stops it by placing his hands on the ceiling.

The earth is being swallowed up by water, Gort is still down there.

The water doesn’t harm him, because he shut himself off for now.

Klaato then rips opens the door as it opens and the UFO’s are right there.

Klaato then looks back.

Henry and Billy wonder what is going to happen.

Klaato gathers strength.

Klaato

I’m sorry…I cannot save you.

Klaato grabs Billy as Henry collapses as he cries Klaato steps onto the UFO platform again with Billy

Henry’s plane is falling towards the water.

Billy looks back at him

Henry then hits the water with the plane falling and crashing from behind it.

Billy can’t look.

EXT-Horse Town

The priest is driving madly through the dead country dirt roads, he approaches the prison, parks, get out, and runs in.

He runs to any cell he can find.

He finds Sharon in a corner, she looks very sick.

He picks her up, not knowing what to do with her, he looks up and prays.

Then he takes her out into the car, and he drives off, she is in the passenger seat, holding on to live since she is in bad shape.

Then, the wall of water comes at them; he tries to drive the other way but the water then consumes them.

The water crashes into the truck; we see an overhead shot of the water consuming everything, even the prison, and some trees crack.

INT-Images

Images some across the screen of Henry’s House being completely underwater, and a couple of other locations.

EXT-New York City-Night

A few moments after all that happened, Klaato looks down at the water.

Billy

Please, stop all of this.

Klaato looks up

Klaato

It is too far in.

Billy

I thought you were going to save the good people!

Klaato

I have, look.

Billy looks as we now understand what the UFO’s were for: saving the ones that were good.

The UFO’s consist of tons of people.

Billy

Then why didn’t you save Grandpa?

Klaato

He said something that he shouldn’t have said.

Billy looks down as the world fills up with water.

Everything consumes with water, he now runs inside the UFO as it shuts the doors.

He looks down from the window, water getting higher and higher.

Klaato looks down at the floor.

Then outside

INT-Outside

The camera panels out form the window, look at all the UFO’s go up into the atmosphere, the water below is up near 5,000 FT.

They can see the sun’s light on the world now except everything is cloudy on Earth.

They fly out of the atmosphere, the UFO’s fly towards Mars.

Billy sees this.

Billy

Why are we going towards Mars?

Klaato

That is your new home, people of Earth’s new home.

Billy

But the Earth was fine

Klaato

No it wasn’t. The human race can begin anew here.

They fly into Mars’ atmosphere; the UFO’s burning, as we see nothing but orange dust and fire as we go really fast.

Billy looks down to see a massive building with enclosed hallways down on Mars.

As they begin touching down, he looks back at Earth, barely visible through the dust.

INT-Earth

We have a huge massive view of Earth, it’s gray and murky but the sun reflects on it.

We see the water still moving, the last visible part of Earth is now underwater, and Mount Everest’s point goes under water.

Then, another view of Earth

END.

FADE OUT.
