Melinda Hinson Neely, BSPH NUTR `86

Melinda Hinson Neely majored in nutrition at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, received an MBA from the College of William and Mary and served as an adjunct professor at Seattle University. She currently works for the Blue Cross of Idaho Foundation for Health, managing the High Five Children's Health Collaborative to fight childhood obesity in the state of Idaho.

Prior to Blue Cross, Melinda ran her own strategic marketing firm for more than 10 years, with emphasis in healthcare, mobile communications and technology industries. She began her marketing career managing multi-million dollar consumer brands such as Dimetapp Cold and Flu Medicine, Welch's Grape Juice, Polaroid Instant Film and Starbucks Coffee.

Melinda has published three books, including, Heart and Sole: How 26 Ran Their First Marathon and You Can, Too (Booktrope, 2012), Eat In Not Out: The Learn-How-to-Cook-Book without the Recipes (Booktrope, 2011), and Finding Life's Secret Sauce: How to Fit Good Food, Fitness and Fun into Your Crazy, Busy Schedule (Morgan James, 2010). Barnes and Noble selected Eat In Not Out as a "Compelling Read from Authors You Need to Know." It also reached the top of the charts in both the cookbook and nutrition categories.
