NEWSPAPER /MAGAZINE RESEARCH PROJECT – SS20
Goal: Create a newspaper that represents the events that led up to the French Revolution and how the outcome would shape France and the rest of Europe.
Role: You are a field reporter that is responsible for telling the people of France and across the world about the revolution and its lasting effect on France.
Audience: People in France and the World.
Situation: You will be drawing pictures and writing about the events that shaped France during and after the revolution.
Performance: Magazine
Standards: 6.1.1: Global Revolutions: causes and consequences of the major political and economic revolutions.
6.1.2: World-wide migrations and population changes, shifts in world population from Europe to America.
6.1.4: Changes in economic and political systems.
6.2.1: Political revolutions, economic and social causes in America.
6.3.1: Europe: economic, political, and social transformations in Europe. Explaining haw democratic ideas and revolutionary conflicts influenced European society. Legal and political position of women.
Objectives:
• Identify the major causes and results of the French Revolution
• Illustrate an understanding of the issues of the Revolution
• Write creatively about the events of the Revolution
• Provide a timeline of events of the Revolution

Procedure:
This project is a way to learn and present your research information in a newspaper. To create the magazine, you will be creating this with paper and working in class on it. The goal of your magazine is to inform the reader about the events and characters of the French Revolution, and its contribution to nationalism. Explain the long term and immediate causes of the Revolution, as well as the results and outcome of the Revolution. (Ex. The structure of the Old Regime)

Part I Cover Page and Article
1. Create a cover story.
2. The event that you pick will need to be at least two paragraphs with 10 to 12 sentences in each paragraph.
▪ Watch punctuation, spelling, capitalization, and grammar.
▪ Every sentence starts with a capital letter!
▪ Set the scene; make me feel like I was at the event!
3. For this event you will need to think of a creative picture and it will have to be drawn, not printed off from a computer.
