During the first ever virtual event, DiversityInc, the producers of the gold standard in the U.S. for ranking companies for diversity, equity and inclusion, announced that this year, Marriott International takes the number 1 spot after moving up 1 spot, ranking 2nd in 2019. More than 1,350 attendees logged on to find out which company took the number 1 spot and what sets the DiversityInc Hall of Fame (HoF) companies above all others in the competition. This year’s HOF listed in alphabetical order are:AT&T | EY | Johnson & Johnson | Kaiser Permanente | Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation PwC | Sodexo The Hall of Fame is made up of companies that ranked #1 since 2012 and, if ranked this year, would have earned a spot in the top 15. “Leaders of DiversityInc Top 50 Companies understand that nurturing an inclusive environment where everyone has a sense of belonging drives profitability and results in a competitive advantage, especially during a recession,” CEO of DiversityInc Carolynn Johnson said. “We are greatly honored to be recognized by DiversityInc. While the #DITop50 companies have significantly more ethnic and gender diversity throughout their entire workforce, we focused at the board level and found that, compared with 2019 EEO statistics, the #DITop50 and #DIHoF have are 14% more women and 22% more people of color. When looking at the Fortune 100, the #DITop50 have 11% more women, 12% more men of color and 6.6% more women of color.” Executives — including CEOs and CHROs — were in high attendance at this year’s virtual event from over 28 industries representing more than 3 million U.S. employees. Highlights from the Top 50 virtual event featured a fireside chat with Dr. Ronald Copeland, Senior Vice President and Chief Equity, Inclusion and Diversity Officer at Kaiser Permanente, and Michael Dowling, President & CEO of Northwell Health. There were also TED Talk-style presentations from Shannon Schuyler, Chief Purpose & Inclusion Officer at PwC; Dr. Chris Parker, Director of Research & Data Analytics at DiversityInc; and Dr. Stephanie Creary, Assistant Professor at The Wharton School.The daytime programming also featured a panel discussion with corporate diversity and talent leaders that focused on best practices and valuable advice on how formal sponsorship programs drive employee engagement and retention while supporting the advancement of diverse executives and women into senior leadership roles.
