Question and Answer Day Information for MPharm Applicants

Question and Answer Day Information for MPharm Applicants

Following your UCAS application submission, our Admissions team will review your application and forward all eligible applications to the School of Pharmacy. After this you will be invited to a Q&A day, which will be available on your UCAS Track.

What can I expect on a Q&A day?

Attending a Q&A day will help you in learning more about the University and School of Pharmacy, with the aim of making sure that you choose the University and course that's right for you. There will be a range of activities throughout the day including; a tour of our specialist facilities, workshops, talks, group discussions, as well as chances to meet students and academics.

What if I can't attend?

If you can't attend e.g. you are out of the country or have a physical disability please contact our School Administration team (see below) who will be happy to help you.

Will there be an interview?

No, we don't hold formal interviews. The School is dedicated to nurturing future pharmacists who are passionate about their future role and so it's important that we learn about you. One of the ways in which we do this is by holding an informal group discussion. Here you will join a small number of other applicants in a meeting with senior School staff who will discuss the course and the values of the School with you, so that you can reflect on your goals and suitability of the course.

Why is there no interview ? are your standards lower?

No, we have very high expectations for our future pharmacists, but the evidence shows that interviews are not a reliable method for predicating who will be a good one in the end. In short, we don't believe it's right to make that sort of judgement about you at this (very early!) stage of your career.

How should I prepare?

As we mentioned we're committed to help develop caring, innovative pharmacists who are well informed on healthcare issues and who work effectively with other health and social care professionals. One way in which you can demonstrate this is to participate actively in Q&A day sessions and be prepared to ask/discuss questions. The more you meaningfully participate and let your passion show the more you will get out of it!

Will I be able to look at the accommodation?

We aim to provide tours of the accommodation on our Q&A days but this is subject to demand and availability.

Opportunities for you to view accommodation are also available as standard on centrally organised applicant events (you can find more information here). Please be aware that these events are designed for you to explore the wider-university (including campus and city tours) and so won't include MPharm specific activities, which are part of a Q&A day.

Where will the Q&A day be held?

The Q&A day will be held at the Joseph Banks Laboratories building which is roughly a 10 minute walk from the centre of campus. Please report to Reception at the day/time sent via UCAS Track, where you will be directed to the School of Pharmacy.

How do I get to the university?

You can find helpful information on travel including directions and maps here.

Are friends/family welcome?

Yes. Q&A days are designed for both you and your friends/family.

Along with the tour of the facilities and informal group discussion with senior School staff, you can expect the day's activities to take roughly two hours (or three, dependant on numbers, if you join an accommodation tour).

Is there parking available?

The University does not have onsite parking available; however, there are several retail parks with pay and display parking, or NCP car parks within a 10 minute walk. You can find details on locations and charges here.

If you have any questions about Q&A days which haven't been answered above please contact our School Administration team via pharmacy@lincoln.ac.uk.
