Oregon Clean Vehicle Rebate Program Rebate Process for New Applicants

General Information

If you purchased or leased an electric vehicle on or after Dec. 12, 2018 (for zero-emission electric motorcycles, you must have purchased or leased on or after Jan. 1, 2019), you are considered a potential new applicant to the Oregon Clean Vehicle Rebate Program. You may be eligible to receive either a Standard Rebate, a Charge Ahead Rebate or both.

To determine if you have purchased or leased an eligible vehicle for the Standard Rebate and/or the Charge Ahead Rebate, please consult the Standard Rebate Vehicle Eligibility List or the Charge Ahead Rebate Vehicle Eligibility List on the program webpage.

To qualify for the program, you must also meet the following criteria*:

Standard Rebate Be an:

Charge Ahead Rebate Be an:

? Oregon resident (individual)

Purchase or lease a new battery electric vehicle, a new plug-in hybrid electric vehicle or a new zeroemission electric motorcycle

Be a: ? low- or moderate-income household (Income Eligibility Calculator)

Purchase or lease a new or used battery electric vehicle only (No plug-in hybrid electric vehicles are eligible)

Purchase or lease your eligible vehicle on or after Purchase or lease your eligible vehicle on or after

New Applicants

If you believe that the electric vehicle you have purchased or leased qualifies for the rebate program, please download and complete a General application from the Oregon Clean Vehicle Rebate program website. Once we receive your General application, you become a General applicant.

If you are purchasing or leasing your car from a dealer, you may be able to receive your rebate at the time of purchase. Also called "cash on the hood," the dealer can subtract the rebate from the cost of the vehicle for you and submit the rebate application for reimbursement to the dealership. You will need to complete a General application as well as a form assigning your rebate to the dealer (the dealer will provide this form). To see which dealers are providing this option, please visit our map of cash on the hood participating dealerships. Otherwise, you can mail or hand-deliver your application to:

Please note that we cannot accept e-mailed copies of any applications at this time.

General Application Review and Standard Rebate Check Issue

Upon our receipt of your General application, we will send you an application receipt email. This first email will confirm that we have received your application and it is under review. Due to the volume of applicants, it may take some time for us to complete our review of your application.

Once we have completed our review of your application, we will send you a second application reviewed email. This second email will state that (a) you are approved to receive a Standard Rebate check, (b) you will need to send us additional information or (c) you do not qualify for a Standard Rebate. If your application is complete and you qualify for the Standard Rebate, you become an Approved applicant.

Once you are an Approved applicant, you should receive your check within a few weeks. Standard Rebate checks are sent by mail to the address listed on your General application. Please note that we prioritize approved General applicants for payment based on the date they purchased or leased their eligible vehicle.

Please note that we are unable to process Charge Ahead Rebates at this time. Proof of household income is needed to qualify for the Charge Ahead Rebate and DEQ is not authorized to handle such information. DEQ is currently identifying a third-party contractor that has the appropriate security measures in place to collect and manage the sensitive personal information that will be needed to process Charge Ahead Rebates. If you think you may qualify for the Charge Ahead rebate, please submit your application within 6 months of purchase or lease to ensure you can be eligible.
