UPMC Affiliation

On October 18, 2016 Susquehanna Health officially joined UPMC (University of Pittsburgh Medical Center). UPMC Susquehanna is a north central Pennsylvania based health system that serves an 11-county region. UPMC Susquehanna has been recognized at the national and state levels for quality of care and offers a wide array of services. Additional information can be found on the UPMC Susquehanna website.

Christmas Resident and Family Celebration

The Christmas resident and family celebration will be held on Saturday, December 10 from 2-3:30 p.m. Variety of entertainment will be scheduled and a visit from Santa Clause is anticipated. Refreshments will be provided.

Holiday Facility Protocols

Any electrical items or decorations brought into the facility must be inspected and tagged by the maintenance department prior to use. Real Christmas trees or greens are not permitted. Holiday decoration should be removed from the facility by January 14, 2017.

Renovations

The construction on the new transport bay began in October with an anticipated completion date of December 2016. Traffic Patterns will continue until the project is completed. Renovations will begin on the B-Floor to several resident rooms beginning in December. We look forward to continuing to update areas within the facility.

Family Council

A family council meeting was held in November 2016. The next family council meeting will be held January 18, 2017 in the Green Home Conference Room. Family members are encouraged to attend.

Additional special events will be posted within the facility. Families are welcome to attend with their loved ones.

Special Thanks

Over the past several years the Tioga Churches and their elves have provided individualized gifts for the residents at The Green Home. Church members receives a listing of the residents at the Green Home and personally shop for those residents. On Christmas Morning, a gift bag is presented to the residents with their own special gifts.

Introducing new staff

RN Supervisor - Aliscia Shafer accepted the day shift position of RN Supervisor. Aliscia has been an employee of The Green Home for the past eight years beginning as night time supervisor and then accepted the RNAC position in 2011. Aliscia has been a licensed RN since 1996. She is a member of American Association of Registered Nurse Assessment Coordinators and is RNAC certified. She currently is working on her wound care certification.

RNAC ---Sue A. Fletcher, RN accepted the position of the Registered Nurse Assessment Coordinator (RNAC). Sue previously worked at The Green Home in the RNAC office. She comes to us with a Masters in Health Administration from the University of Phoenix. She received her Associates degree in Nursing from Corning Community College. Sue also is certified through the American Association of Registered Nurse Assessment Coordinators and serves of the Board of Directors and an Executive Officer of Haven of Tioga County.

Reminders

New clothing brought in for the holidays should be labeled whether laundered by the facility or families. Please take the items to the nurses' station on the resident's floor for assistance.
