Winter Wonderland at Congress Call Captures Holiday Spirit Additional Evening Shopping Hours at Washington Street Mall and Washington Commons

add to Seasonal Merriment

CAPE MAY, NJ (October 2015)-- There's nothing quite like Christmas in Cape May and Congress Hall has become South Jersey's version of the North Pole. Santa has decided we've all been extra nice this year, which means we get to enjoy additional time at Congress Hall's Winter Wonderland and extended shopping hours for the small businesses of The Washington Street Mall and Washington Commons.

For the sixth year, Congress Hall's Grand Land will be transformed into a magical Winter Wonderland where visitors can explore unique gifts from over twenty vendors in the enchanted shopping village, sip on a cozy cup of hot cocoa and enjoy special seasonal treats as they peek into Santa's Workshop. It's become a favorite among visitors young and old and an instant tradition. New this year, Winter Wonderland will also be open to the public Thursday nights through the last weekend in December. Traditionally only open Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings, the added day is expected to bring in additional visitors and of course, holiday cheer.

To compliment this new schedule, the small businesses of The Washington Street Mall and The Washington Commons will also keep their doors open until 9 o'clock on Thursday evenings, allowing visitors to stroll the brick lined walk to pick out perfect presents for loved ones. Last year, more than 40 stores were open Friday and Saturday nights in conjunction with the Winter Wonderland, providing a nice economic boost during the slower winter months.

While the temperatures may be cool in Cape May, the warmth of the holiday season can't help but be felt. Every weekend there's a new adventure at Congress Hall, and every Saturday a new concert performance on the veranda. Local performance groups will headline the hotel's Winter Wonderland Concert Series. Holiday happenings and activities include: festive holiday decorations, tree lighting ceremony & holiday concert, breakfast and brunch with Santa, gingerbread house decorating with Mrs. Claus, story time with Mrs. Claus, Santa's workshop, Congress Hall express train and classic carousel, holiday shopping village (with over 20 specialty vendors), holiday ceramics, happy hour at the pool bar, the winter wonderland concert series and the Twelve Dates of Christmas performance.
