Effects of Technology on Society

Hannah Vitalos & Brianna Lilly

Technology is advancing faster than light. You would have never thought of a refrigerator as being too technological. LG came out with a model that has WiFi so you can take care of your groceries from your kitchen! Hand held devices are becoming more common, more capable, and easier to use. There are first graders running around with iPhones. The fast-moving pace of the technology industry leaves us asking an important question: what effects is this having on our society? We are becoming more and more reliant on technology for basic things. Years ago, phones were simply ways to call friends and family. Now, we use them for everything. We text, call, do math, search things, and share things from phones. Additionally, we also play games and get directions. Not all of this is bad. Although, the amount of dependency we have on technology could be concerning to some. To quote our source, “In the past, technology was a bonus, not a necessity. Today, however, this is far from true. Without it, our society would crumble at its feet, where it stands right now, and in a 24 hour period.” The previous statement is true. Texting has had a large impact on grammar. With the popular abbreviations and lack of need for proper English, texting is loose. Texting has become the primary way to communicate. There is no face to face communication. It also has tools like spell check, meaning that misspelled words are corrected without the person being aware that it was ever wrong. Although, it seems some phone companies are starting to realize this, as Samsung’s newest version of their flagship phone, the Galaxy, underlines the words it fixes so you know your initial spelling was incorrect. “These technologies at our disposal are here to make our lives easier, and teach us things we didn’t already know, or forgot,” says our source. The source goes on to say this: “Instead of using them to teach us, we use them to correct us, move on, and forget. If spell check says you spelled a word wrong, make note of it, correct it, move on, and remember!” While this may be true for some or even most people, not everyone disregards the wealth of knowledge technology provides. If we don’t know something, we Google it, and the information is at our fingertips. On the other hand, Google is also a tool used for cheating on school work. It is often heard that kids Google their home work questions. To conclude, technology has both positive and negative effects on our society. The mobile devices in our hands are fast, capable machines with amazing abilities, from communicating to doing math. The Internet is also a useful tool, putting knowledge at the tips of our fingers. So, technology isn’t all bad.

Favorite Things about Autumn

by staff

Autumn is so fun. I love a lot of things about it. It is one of my favorite seasons out of all four of them. I love a lot of things about autumn.

One of my favorite things about autumn is the cool weather. Everyone says it’s too cold, or boring. But honestly, I think it’s just around perfect. Especially since the coldness makes the ugly bugs go away. I love the trees; they look so pretty! The leaves are full of colors like red, yellow, orange, and burgundy! The temperature is great for staying inside and sitting by the fireplace. Sometimes, if we get lucky, it will snow outside, and we get off school! Usually when it does snow, I do the snow challenge. On cold days, I snuggle up in my room and watch a movie or Bethany Mota’s Fall series on YouTube with a warm blanket.

Additionally, I love the autumn essentials. Usually, I have Cinnamon Apple Yankee Candles lit in my room (they smell amazing). I also like to have hot chocolate with Nutella- it is delicious and creamy! I also love drinking Pumpkin Spice Lattes from Starbucks. Chicken Noodle Soup is also one of my favorites in this season because it is so warm and yummy. And, we can’t forget about the fall clothing. I love knit sweaters and cardigans from American Eagle and Aeropostale because they are really cute, and keep me so warm! Uggs and Bearpaws are my favorite boots because they have soft, fluffy material inside which keep my feet warm! I also love my fall room decorations. I usually make them myself with ideas from Pinterest or YouTube, or I go shopping at Hobby Lobby. I love putting Fairy lights in my room too.

Another thing about autumn that I love is the holidays! Halloween is one of my favorites because the decorations are so cool-looking, and my sister’s birthday is on the same day! Passing out candy to people is one of my favorites because I live on a steep hill and people always fall down when walking down and it’s really funny to watch. I also love cooking Thanksgiving dinner. I usually help make mashed potatoes, corn, vegetables, and dinner rolls. My birthday is also very exciting because I usually go on a shopping trip and invite friends over.

As you can probably tell, I love the season of autumn a lot. It’s a fun season and it’s very enjoyable. There are so many things to love about it. The leaves, boots, sweaters, candles, the weather, just everything is great. I am very excited for fall this year. There are so many things to look forward to. Wickedlygaga.. n.d. web. 9/18/15.

If You Could Travel to any Cartoon Series, Which One Would It Be?

by Michelle Alarcon & Alayna Scott

Have you ever wanted to travel to one of your favorite cartoon series or even a book? An anime? Well, let your imagination run wild. We’re going to tell you what we would’ve wanted if we could! One of our favorite anime cartoons is Attack on Titan!!

The reason we want to go is because it would be cool or rad, to get to experience the excitement and to also meet all the characters. It has a 3D maneuvering device that they use to fight against Titans.

Even if it would be a tough life, we think it would be cool and exciting to be able to experience those types of things. If we were to join a group in the series, it would probably be Survey Corps. The Survey Corps is the group where you would have to be willing to give up your life for others and the king because you’re serving for him.

This show takes place in the 800’s in early Japan when they thought that Titans actually existed. There are three walls: Wall Maria, Wall Rose, and Wall Sheena. The main wall was destroyed by the Colossal Titan. Now that is enough spoiling. We shall tell you about all the main characters!

There is Eren Jaegar, a 15-year-old boy who is determined to destroy every last Titan. Of course, everyone thinks he’s crazy.

There is Mikasa Ackerman, a 16-year-old girl who is the most calm about everything! She was taken in by Eren’s family because there was an incident at her house and her parents were wiped out.

Then, last, but not least, Armin Arlert, a 14-year-old boy who is not so confident in himself in fighting Titans, but gains some in the end of the season.

Okay, we’ll let you find out the rest for yourselves. We don’t want to spoil it for you. If you like action, adventure, and anime, we recommend this series. You can find it anywhere on Netflix or Hulu! If you are going to watch this series, let your imagination run wild because that’s what you do when you watch anime! Now go and get yourself some popcorn and watch it!

Will Nuclear Fusion Ever be Reliable?

by Calvin Dear & Gabe Jones

Can you imagine having the power of the sun? Many scientists are currently working to make nuclear fusion, the type of nuclear energy used by the sun and other stars, reliable. Climate change and humanity’s reliance upon fossil fuels causes us to seek for a new source of energy. Currently, all nuclear power plants use fission; in this reaction, atoms are split, causing massive amounts of energy to be released. However, even though fission can be safe, its fuel and waste are radioactive and harmful. In addition, “the Fukushima disaster showed there is a high cost to accidents,” according to BBC’s Matthew Francis. Fusion is principally cleaner, and is cheaper, due to the fact that it comes from the abundant fuel source deuterium, (a hydrogen isotope,). It can be extracted from water and fusions only waste is helium.

However, even with its benefits, it does pose some problems. The main problem several scientists are having trouble with is creating a sustained reaction. Stars are among the best fusion reactors. Unfortunately, the conditions found in stars cannot be recreated on Earth. “Stars have a sufficiently large mass to contain the hydrogen plasma by the force of gravity alone, but we don't have that option, so physicists have to confine plasma using electromagnetism instead,” states Francis. Because of the high temperatures required to start fusion and keep the process going, it uses more energy than we have yet to produce, (defeating the purpose).

There are many methods that are being researched to solve this problem. The best known is the tokamak reactor. First built in the Soviet Union during the 1950’s, many more designs have emerged. However, even the best tokamak reactors still have yet to break the barrier of creating more energy than is required. Another solution is inertial confinement. “This uses bombardment by high-energy photons – X-rays – to confine and compress a pellet of hydrogen and its isotopes,” says Francis. So far neither confinement method has yielded satisfying results. Despite the few problems fusion poses, we believe it may be our best shot at clean energy.

Lightning Fox!

by Staff

It was a cold day in Terratin. The school had been shut down, and the stores followed soon after. In an alley between two grocery stores, lived a young fox. Society had thrown him away, just like all other animals. The cold day turned to cold night, and the fox heard thunder. The sky roared, the clouds rumbled, and he was stuck outdoors. He noticed a hand put a plate down, and then the hand returned with trout. He assumed it was for him, so the fox leaped after it. Right before he finished, he heard a wild crack, and fell asleep. He woke the next morning, along with his fellow foxes. They all had a red glow. A young baby sneezed and lighting shot out of his forehead, knocking down 4 traffic lights. They all shared an evil thought. The foxes snuck around the alleyway, avoiding sight. They soon came to the e-dome, a giant needle that was the source of all power. They all waited until finally they all sprang out and shocked the needle. The electricity overcame the needle, and it came crashing down. The city became dark, not one light was lit in Terratin. The nearest source of light was the town of Grenen, which could barely be seen over the vast hills. The town panicked, they had relied on technology a little too much. The foxes returned to the alley where they found an old women, a tray of fish and fruit in her arms. She placed the tray down, and the foxes walked over and ate. The foxes realized that all they wanted the whole time was to be noticed. Then and there, in the now abandoned town of Terratin, had only one human, and a ton of lightning foxes.

Pumpkin Facts

by Sydney Barker

Pumpkins are harvested in October. They are extremely rich in vitamins, and the seeds and ‘flesh’ are both edible. Pumpkins can be used to make soups, desserts, breads, and the famous, pumpkin pie. Carving Jack-O-Lanterns are a normal thing to do with your pumpkins and that tradition started in Ireland hundreds of years ago. When the People of Ireland immigrated over, they brought the tradition with them. The heaviest pumpkin weighed 1,810 lb 8 oz in October of 2010. Pumpkins are low in calories, fat, sodium and high in fiber. They are a good source of Vitamin A+B, potassium, protein and iron. The largest pumpkin pie ever made was over five feet in diameter and weighed over 350 pounds. It used 80 pounds of cooked pumpkin, 36 pounds of sugar, 12 dozen eggs and took 6 hours to bake. Pumpkins are related to honeydew melons, cantaloupe, and watermelons. Pumpkins were once recommended for removing freckles and curing snake bites.

Spooky Potato Farm

by Emma Miller

Farmer Bob had a normal life as a potato farmer. Every day was the same routine, pick, plant, and water the crops. As the weather gets colder, it’s harder to take care of his potatoes especially when the old owner of the farm haunts the property for at least a month. Last year, he mutated a potato to kill a goldfish. This year, Bob wanted to make a special formula to keep his potatoes alive and normal. Sadly, he was too late. The ghost made it throughout the district, haunting by doing things like possessing the neighborhood dog Bone. Befriending everyone and hunting down anything that could help him.

Walking through the Spooks Woods (that’s its name, it is self-explanatory), Bone found wolves, spiders, and hair raising animals and creatures for their secret plan. It took them at least three days to get as many horrible creatures as they possibly could and explain to them the secret plan. Bone possessed and gathered 70 spiders, 23 wolves, 37 rats, 7 other dogs, 4 spooky cats, and 16 squirrels. Since Bone was the first member of the group, he took charge of their master plan. “I need all of the spiders to go in teams of two to the basements of all the houses. Try to remain unseen. The night before Halloween (which was in two days) the rats will join you, one rat per every 2 spiders. You will scare the people out of their houses. Everyone else will help me block the streets, except for the squirrels. You will go in the trees and dump slime everywhere.” The team left after Bone was finished speaking, but one person heard, unintentionally. Farmer Bob was lurking in the shadows listening to the whole conversation. He knew what to do.

The night of the scare was here and he was going to foil everything. Once he heard the shrieks of the townsfolk, he ran out the door of his farm, jumped onto the fastest tractor he had, hooked up both of his hayride carts, and sped into town. When the squirrels came to slime everyone, Farmer Bob sacrificed himself and told everyone to get in and ordered the most experienced driver to take them back to his farm. All of the creatures took Farmer Bob to the scariest place in Spooks Woods, the inescapable ditch. Bone put him in a potato sack and they took him away. Nobody saw him again. The whole town threw a party in honor of the simple farmer.

What Are Your Top 5 Favorite Video Games!

by James Foy III

Keep in mind this is my opinion on what I like not what anybody else likes.

My fifth favorite video game is Madden NFL. The creator of madden’s name is John Madden .You can probably tell why the game is called Madden. Also you know what it is by the title of the game. I like it because it is very competitive, like me. I love to compete against other people. Plus football is my favorite sport that’s why it is my third favorite video game.

My fourth favorite video game is the Mortal Kombat series. It is kind of like street fighter if you have ever played that game before. The first Mortal Kombat game I played was Mortal Kombat 8. When I first started playing, I was pretty good at it, but when I took a long break from it and came back I was pretty bad, but that’s not the point.

My third favorite video game is Slender: The Eight Pages. It is a scary game where you play as a little girl walking through the woods looking for eight pages thinking there is a monster chasing her on her way out. Right before you find the exit, if you have found every page she turns around and stares into the monsters eyes, and says, “I made it, goodbye.” And walks through the gate. It’s an extremely scary game I think you’d like it.

My second favorite video game is Agar.io. According to Felix Dennis, Agar.io or Agario is a game in which you take charge of a tiny cell, eating small dots and other players that are smaller than you. Every time you eat a dot or another player you grow in size, making you more dangerous, but also slower. This is a free online video game that is very popular. It is intense and addicting, once you start playing, you can’t stop. That’s how addicting it is.

My favorite video game is Minecraft. It is a creative game where you can express your creativity on a video game, with others too! There is also survival where you have to fight off hostile mobs and survive the night. It’s really cool. There are also mini games that you can play with friends like Sky-Block. Sky-Block is where you survive off of the given resources on a small island. It’s pretty cool. I think a lot of you guys have played this game before

Those are my top 5 favorite video games.

Disappearance or Interference

by Sydney Barker

Many say the Bermuda Triangle is just a myth, or its aliens. Well, investigated along with the only survivor from the Bermuda Triangle, since these incidences started happening in 1918. As the pilot was flying to Miami, he started to get off track somehow and fly into the Bermuda Triangle. As this happened electric fog obstructed his view. Miami was confused, as it was a perfect day with not a cloud in the sky. Electronic fog is said to have electric and/or magnetic effects on the environment in some fashion, while void of lightning. The pilot said that the electronic fog was more attached and flying with him, rather than it just happens to be there. Many ships and planes have flown through the Bermuda Triangle, but only one has made it out. Have they all crashed just by accident? Were they scared by the fog and that caused them to get out of control? The mystery is, “why has only one person gotten out?” Why does almost everyone who goes in there disappear? Some say aliens reside and they take the people away. In The Percy Jackson Series, the Bermuda Triangle is home to scary sea monsters that eat you in barely one bite. To skeptics, the Triangle’s accidents are just accidents. The pilots get confused, the captains just run into things. Apparently, they all aren’t smart so they just crash for no reason. I don’t believe it. I think there is something paranormal, not natural, and not natural.

Hershey Park Fun

by Trenton Davis

I went to Hershey Park this summer. While there I rode tons of roller coasters and other cool rides. My favorite roller coaster was Storm Runner which went 0-60 mph in a couple of seconds. My second favorite roller coaster was Sidewinder where you went forward over loops like a basic roller coaster and then you go backwards. We didn’t end up going on their new indoor rollercoaster because the line was a one hour wait. The lines were very long and very tiresome. It was so noisy you couldn’t even hear yourself think. I was very surprised when we made it to the front on some rides, because it seemed like we were in line for hours. For one ride it was only my friend and I in line. Our parents waited at the exit, as it was a very long coaster. After the coaster came back to where it started, barely anybody got on. Some rides were worth waiting for and some rides weren’t. I went to the Water Park and rode tons of water slides where they toss you around in a tube. Another water slide had a very long line and it had water guns, so we kept getting squirted. The water was so cold I thought I would get Frostbite, but when we stepped on the bricks it felt like we were on lava, because it was so hot outside. A water ride called Inter-coastal Waterway, was kind of like a lazy river, where you just float in rapid water. I couldn’t even stop myself, because it was moving so fast. I went around three times, until I caught up with my mom and we had to leave the ride. There was also a water ride that took you really high up, very slowly then it made a half-circle going right and then downwards fast. There was so much water, when we first hit the water it wasn’t bad, but then the water came up and it was like we were in a rainstorm. The rainstorm was so heavy that I couldn’t see my mom who was right next to me. There is actually a splash zone right near the ride, so you can wet even when you’re not wet. After that, we decided to get back in our regular clothes and ride some more rides.

My favorite non-roller coaster was Scrambler because it feels like you’re going to fall out. My second favorite non-roller coaster is the Tilt-a-Whirl, where it spins you again and again. After we left the park, we went about thirty feet to the Hershey’s Chocolate World. Inside there is a ride and you can make your own chocolate bar, as well as watch a 4D movie. There is a store that has a gigantic Hershey’s bar and a huge Reese cup. All the types of candy that you know of are in the store. That is what happened to me this summer when I went to Hershey Park.

Life on Three Wheels by Staff

This summer I rode with my grandpa twice on his black trike. A trike is a motorcycle with three wheels instead of two which makes it easier to ride. It’s so much better than sitting in a car. You get to enjoy the marvelous view instead of staring at a boring old phone display. To be able to smell the fresh air and enjoy the astonishing scenery is just the best! You can see awesome things like a purple tracker trailer, appealing mountains, and old broken cars! On the first ride, I felt like I was going to fall off when the road got bumpy. I never fell off, though. The windshield protects you from freezing winds, but your jacket and shirt will puff up with air! You might have the chance of tasting a disgusting bug if you hang your mouth open. A trike or motorcycle is the only way to ride!

The Most Fun Ever

by Grant C

Over the summer I went to Busch Gardens in Williamsburg which is an amusement park. I had some of the most fun I have ever had. We stayed in a hotel for the weekend we were there, and it was pretty nice except for one thing. When we got there the power cut off so we had no power for at least 5 hours, so we decided to go to Busch Gardens. Since it had just rained, there were not many people and no lines and the first ride I went on was Apollo’s Chariot. You go almost straight up very high and then it drops you down very fast. While you’re going fast there are twists and turns as it jerks you around. Then it finally ends.

My favorite ride was Verbolten it doesn’t look that bad at first, but when you start going it’s a different story. You start to go and it’s fine. Then you go into a dark tunnel where its pitch black. You start to go up and around corners but you can’t see. You eventually completely stop then you drop down, I don’t mean down a hill I mean the whole cart drops straight down. Then you go shooting up a hill and down it. After that the ride ends.

Another ride that I really enjoyed was Escape from Pompeii. It’s a water ride that is really cool. It takes you up into a building where it is falling apart, columns fall down and there is fire. Not some orange piece of plastic that is waving around, but actual fire. The whole way through you can feel the heat from it. Then you drop down a hill and it ends.

Busch Gardens is also themed in different countries and continents such as Italy, Asia, Greece, and Spain. I thought that was cool, since I have always wanted to go to different places in the world. For lunch one day, we ate at the Italian themed part which I had chicken parmigiana and jello for dessert. While we ate lunch, we watched a music show with a lot of trumpets, trombones, drums and cymbals. After that, we got on a ride called Da Vinci’s Cradle. It goes around in a circle a couple of times, in the middle of the ride a kid lost his cell phone and I had to keep my foot on it the whole time. When the ride ended it turned out he had also lost his battery.

In all I really enjoyed my trip to Busch Gardens, and all the rides I rode like Apollo’s Chariot and Verbolten. I can’t wait until the next time I go. If you are looking for a fun amusement park Busch Gardens is a good place to go.

The Trash Bandit

by Dennis Jennison

I always wondered why we always have bad reputations. People were always avoiding us and calling us “dangerous”. “Oh no, a raccoon, lock the door!” How many times have I heard that one? I’m not a bad guy, really, I’m not! I just need to do what I need to do. Our bad reputation doesn’t get us very far. We have to steal for survival, that’s just our way. Lately, residents of a neighborhood I travel to have been putting up traps especially for us. I have tried to avoid that neighborhood, but the urge is too big, I have to try, no matter the consequences. I haven’t eaten anything for two days! This is my chance!

I pondered on how I could make it past the traps. I saw a laser grid that I could probably slip past. This house had many deadly items, but the owners of the house were full on leftovers. I started to gently crawl past the lasers. Ouch! I stepped in a sharp trap! I was bleeding! How could this be any worse? Suddenly, I see lights from the house turn on, and a man with a large rifle walks out. This is the end of me, I thought. I then heard yelling from a house next door. An old lady walks out and threatens to call the police if I was dead. She pulled apart the trap and carried me to her house. I was saved! She set me down on a table, and wrapped my wound in bandages. She knew I was grateful so she fed me and gave me a bed for the night. The old lady seemed in need for someone to keep her company, so I went along with it. I slept better than any other raccoon had before! The next morning, she even had breakfast ready for me. As I ate, she groomed my fur and pampered me. “I never want to leave.” I thought. This daily routine kept on for many weeks, and my life was the best! I really seemed to belong, and she knew it. I had become her best companion. Some thought it was weird to be friends with a raccoon, but what do they know? We were happy.

The Story of the Unrevealed Halloween Figure

by Madison Gray

One year, in a tiny, unknown, creepy, neighborhood there was a suspicious moving figure that only came during five days before Halloween and the night of. When the darkness of the shadowy, bone-rattling, night struck upon the houses it was almost as if the enormous light projecting rock in the air known as the Moon was calling for the eerie and uncomfortable looking figure to come out and visit the structures that people were living in. All of the adults, in the development, had heard or knew about this phantom wandering through the nightfall. However, this year was going to change all the suspicions people had. A growing rumor had spread throughout the district about the hair-raising event. Therefore, five nights before the dawn of Halloween night, three neighborhood sixth grade boys were riding their rusty and rickety bikes around the medieval and rocky cul-de-sac. All of a sudden, they heard this ghostly, unheard of screech that not only startled the boys, but ended up scaring the living daylights out of them. Each boy looked at one another trying to act and sound brave, but the sound was too horrifying to resist. Each one of the sixth graders peddled his bike as fast as he could to his house, but apparently they weren’t riding quick enough because the haunting figure and screeching sound still followed them all the way home and stopped when they all split up. Each one of these terrified kids told their stern mother, which also made the parents all panicky and upset. Therefore for the next four gut wrenching days nobody even wanted to go outside. If they had to go to the bus stop, their also fearful guardians drove them and ran out of their cars to get on to the giant yellow bus. Then it came to be Halloween night. Nobody handed out the delicious, sugary, unhealthy sweets or walked outside to Trick-or-Treat. Except, there just happened to be one group of people that were walking around very sneakily. They weren’t really asking for candy that makes you a toothless wonder. They had a bunch of funny and disturbing looking gadgets that were coming left and right out of these very specific and special backpacks that looked like they had a whole computer room in it. It turns out they had heard about this ghostly figure in the newspaper and wanted to investigate this bone rattling creature. It was the dawn of night and the ghost reappeared creeping and floating behind these ghost hunters quietly. Once the ghost started it’s realm of shrieking noise, everybody in the neighborhood heard it. Each one of the ghost hunters jumped up and was immediately freaked out. The ghost hunters set off these weird alarms that told everybody that the ghost was spotted. The whole neighborhood went into hiding mode and didn’t make a noise the rest of the night. The ghost hunters were the most experienced of all so they knew how to handle this situation. Next time the ghost tries to shriek and capture them they will have a net and instead capture it. A couple hours went by and there was no wind and no sound of scurrying throughout the whole neighborhood. Until, all of a sudden, they all felt this blistering wind start to blow and one of the ghost hunters set off the alarm that projected throughout the whole group, but it was only a small vibration on their hips. One ghost hunter ran down the street and the ghost started his screeching noise and started to follow the running man. The ghost hunter took a sharp turn into the woods. The experts set up a contraption to try to catch the scurrying ghost between two trees with one net. When the ghost hunter took the turn the ghost followed, and the man ducked under the net and the ghost became caught in this special enchanted net that was made especially for this purpose. Once they caught the ghost, they quickly took him to a special place for spirits and got rid of it for good.

“Five Nights at Freddy’s” Will you spend five nights?

by Grant Lemon Popular horror game, “Five Nights at Freddy’s,” is taking the internet by storm. Created by a lone game developer, Scott Cawthon, Five Nights at Freddy’s, or FNAF, started out as just a simple Indie horror game. Scott started a Kickstarter campaign in 2014 to get the game up and running. Sadly, the campaign failed with a total of $0 to help the game’s release. However, Scott didn’t let that stop him. After being told that the characters in his last few games looked like creepy animatronic robots, he was about to give up on game developing. He quoted in a recent interview, “I was heartbroken, and was ready to give up on game making. But one night it hit me. I thought to myself, ‘I bet I could make something a lot scarier than that!’” The idea that came to him was the idea of Five Nights at Freddy’s. Even though his Kickstarter campaign was a total bust, he released the game anyway. Many popular Youtubers such as, Markiplier and Pewdiepie, have given the game a massive amount of publicity.

After releasing a sequel of the game, which was found out to actually be a prequel, people thought that Scott was just trying to cash in on all the FNAF hype. But then Scott donated over 2,000 dollars to charity. Everyone realized that Scott wasn’t in it for the money. He legitimately enjoyed making the games and wanted to give something good to the community. Scott released a 3rd game and even a 4th. The 3rd game uncovered a lot of the 4 games’ storyline and even brought on some new mysteries. The 4th game has supposedly given more answers to the community’s questions. People have been going crazy about how the so-called “Bite of 87” was caused by a bunch of teenagers tossing a child into the mouth of Fredbear, who is an animatronic bear at Fredbear’s Family Diner. A box is shown in the 4th game after the player beats Night 7. The box has 2 padlocks on it and after a matter of seconds a text pops up above it. The text says, “Some things are best left forgotten… for now.” People went insane over this locked box. Scott quoted in a post on the game’s Steam Page, “What’s inside the box? It’s the pieces put together, “and, “Some things are best left forgotten… forever.” Many FNAF theorists have said this box may represent the community and how they can’t accept the facts. The box won’t be opened unless the community can realize that the story is right in front of them. But until everyone can figure out the story, we will just have to wait. After the release of the 4th game, the FNAF community is talking about how Five Nights at Freddy’s is over. But, with an update to one of the games, a FNAF movie in the works, and a game called “FNAF World” coming up, I think we can all assume that this popular video game saga is far from over.

The Chase by Staff

As I pedal down the sidewalk with them on my tail, I start to look for a way to lose them. I make a right turn at the stop light and get a head start while they wait to turn. Another comes from the other way. I’m thinking, “Man these teachers really want me.” Ahead of me, I see road work with a dirt hill in front. I speed up as I come nearer. My bike goes up the ramp and I fly over the hole. I make a wrong turn down an alley and get trapped. “Give us the math homework!” said the principle. I ditch the bike and jump from wall to wall up the alley way onto the roof. The sun was straight up high in the sky. I see my house in the distance. I slid down the wall a little ways away and rush through the streets toward my house. I use my garage opener and quickly get into the building. My dog saw me and swiftly came to my side. I was safe, for now…

The doorbell rings, “We know you’re in there! We will grade that math homework!” a teacher said. I yell back, “Never!” I go to my room to get a water hose and open my window. I throw a sprinkler and duck. It soaks everyone’s shoes so I can easily soak them down. The hose sprays them all and they ran like wild monkeys. They get behind the two cars and call for back up. Two more cars come and a total of eight people get out. My hose broke and I run back inside to think of what to do. Amazingly, I find a bucket to fill. I go to a window above the front door. All eight of them get soaked. They retreat and I was safe for the rest of the day. Image: Overmiller,Thomas. Reivalfocusforum. N.P. N.D. Web. 28,Jul,2013

Buttered Barrel Battle

By Gage S.

Once upon a time, in an abandoned woodshop, there lived an old man. This man was a person of mystery; no one knew who he was or where he came from. One night, an unbelievable storm hit, and things got out of hand. It was the day before Halloween, and things seem to be going smoothly. The town of Grenen celebrated every year with a giant festival, and every year the old man stood in his workshop producing barrels for the townsfolk. The thing about Grenen was that they loved apple cider, so much that each house had a cellar full of it. Now the old man only made the barrels, he never got invited to the festival, or even given any apple cider. He received no gratitude for his work, so he knew that this year would be different. He went into his attic and pulled out a small green stone. Ever so carefully he crushed the stone into little pieces, and sprinkled a little bit into each barrel. Almost instantly the barrels sprung up and greeted him. He told them to get to the town and hide in the cellars. They did so, and that night when everyone went to the town center for the festival, the barrels struck! They used salmon blasters! The salmon then got up and used their budder blasters! Then the budder sprung up and fired honey everywhere. Anyone hit was stuck in place! Then a storm came, which for some reason rained barrels. Then the barrels fired the salmon blasters, and you know how that went. By the time five minutes had passed half of the town’s population was stuck in place. Okay, so the moral of the story is: don’t leave people out of activities, because they will probably release a ton of evil barrels to attack the town. Image: N.A. ClipArt panda. N.P. 2014. The Best Summer Ever

by Nathan

Over my summer I played lots of video games. My favorite game is Clash of Clans. I also like to play NHL 15 (a hockey game). This hockey game is really fun and I like playing in career mode. I am pretty good at this version. On Clash of Clans, I destroy other bases and get all kinds of trophies and loot. I am a Town Hall level seven, almost eight. My friends and family members play it also. I normally join good clans and win in conflicts. I just recently joined a new clan, right now we aren’t doing that well. We have only lost one conflict. But we’ve only been in one conflict and are ready to win the next. I decided to break free from the clan to create my own clan and my brother joined me. Right now we are getting more people to join so we can play. But on my tablet, Clash of Clans’ needs an update, but it won’t update, so sadly I haven’t been able to play. I am trying my best to get it working. So from now on, I’m stuck only playing Boom Beach, (a similar game) that’s fun even though I’m not that good.

The other part of my summer consisted of being outside and running around. I would often go outside with friends. We raced our bikes up and down hills. It’s a big, half paved, half dirt hill that we race on. When you go down on a hot day, you can feel the cool wind gently touch your face. Even better, bring a water bottle open the cap and dump it in the air and it splashes everyone behind you with the cold water. I also took a long walk with my brother around the neighborhood. I brought a camera with me and recorded the walk. Then we turned around because breakfast was ready. Bacon and French toast, is one of my favorite breakfasts. I also enjoyed going swimming in my friend’s pool. It was very fun, we played wrestling and that was chaotic. We also had water gun battles. We had teams and when you got hit, you had to freeze for ten seconds and then you can get back to fighting. We also just floated around on rafts and relaxed. When you got to hot, you just rolled off the raft. The best part of raft battles was, if you wanted to take someone’s raft, you could take it by flipping them or pulling them off. I also enjoyed when we had water balloon battles and everyone just chucked balloons all over the place.
