500 Seven Letter Words

Every Scrabble Player Should Know!

This is a free ebooklet for Word Buff subscribers. I'm always adding new freebies to the list, so if you're not a member and you'd like to receive them, you can subscribe here. It's totally FREE.

If you want to get that elusive 50 bonus points more often, it's time to start learning obscure seven letter words. So in this eBooklet I've put together the most important five hundred seven letter words playable in Scrabble. Why are these particular words so important? Because the words I've included in this list are the most likely seven letter words to be drawn from a standard set of Scrabble tiles. If you learn these words (and practice anagramming them!), you will be amazed how often you'll be adding 50 bonus points to your Scrabble score! Before you start browsing the list, though, you'll need to know the following conventions I've used to organize the words...

? The first column, titled Letters, displays seven likely letters drawn from the bag and sorted into alphabetical order (this is often called an alphagram)

? The second column, titled Anagrams, displays the seven letter word/s that can be formed by unscrambling the letters in the first column

? The third column, titled Definition, gives a brief meaning of each word along with its part of speech and inflections

? Seven letter words that are bold are allowed in North American Scrabble. That is, they are all listed in the Official Scrabble Players Dictionary, which is Hasbro's official tome. The good news is that these words are also allowed in International (World English) Scrabble, so if you switch to the international scene you won't have to unlearn any of them.

? Words that are non-bold are only allowed in International (World English) Scrabble, so you can't play them in North American Scrabble.

If you want to know more about the different Scrabble lexicons, I suggest you have a quick read of one of my old Word Buff newsletters here. Ok. Time to hit the list. Knock yourself out ;-) Derek Mckenzie, aka Word Buff P.S. Don't forget, if you want more free stuff like this, including my word games newsletter, you can just click here to join Word Buff in a few seconds (it's free).
