Animal Care and Control of NYC

The Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals, powered by The Maddie's Fund, is a coalition of over 140 animal shelters and rescue organizations are working with the city to help achieve the goal of having no dog or cat of reasonable health and temperament killed merely because he or she does not have a home.

The Maddie's Spay/Neuter Project NYC, one of the many programs developed by the Alliance, offers low-cost/free spay and neuter programs for cats and dogs in New York City help reduce the number of homeless animals in the city by decreasing the number of unwanted pregnancies. If you reside within the five boroughs of New York City and have a valid Medicaid card, you can have up to a total of six cats or dogs (or a combination of cats/dogs totaling no more than six) spayed or neutered each year for a special low price at participating veterinarians and non-profit organizations.
