Minors in the Garage

NASCAR Program Guidelines

A new program was instituted by NASCAR in 2011 which allows minors to accompany their credentialed parents on a visit to the NASCAR garage the morning of the race.

This is how it works:

Any adult who has approved access to the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series garage, either through a Single Event License (SEL) or through a NASCAR annual credential (Hardcard), may bring their children into the NASCAR Sprint Cup garage on the day of the race. A similar program is also in place for the NASCAR XFINITY Series garage and the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series garage.

Each minor will be issued a special "Minor" credential valid during the "cold time" preceding the race, which grants access to the same garage that their parents have credentials for. There is no minimum age. Advanced approval is not required.

Regulations, tips and notes:

Access to the garage is available the day of the race only, and only valid during the "cold time" preceding the race. Minors are not allowed on pit road when vehicles are moving on the track.

To obtain a credential for a child, the legal parent or legal guardian must sign a minor's release and waiver form for each child at NASCAR registration. For the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, the minor credential may be obtained at either the main registration hauler or the NASCAR Garage sign-in location. For the NXS or NCWTS, the credential may be obtained at the main registration site for that series.

Minor's credentials may be picked up the morning of the race. Or they may be picked up earlier in the race weekend during regular registration hours if the parents and children are all on site. However, the minor credential is only valid on the day of the race.

Parents must sign for their own children only.

In a rare case where a parent is requesting that their child be able to bring a friend, and that friend's parent or guardian is not in attendance, then the minor's release and waiver form must be signed in advance by that child's parent or legal guardian and properly notarized. Forms are available in advance from Carole Parks or Stephanie Blackburn with the Membership Dept. or may be down-loaded from . NASCAR reserves the right to deny such requests.

For NASCAR Sprint Cup Series teams, sponsors, and so on, this special minor credential is complimentary and does not count against an entity's overall allotment of event garage passes.

NASCAR reserves the right to refuse or revoke any entry to the NASCAR garage for any reason.

For certain NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, NASCAR XFINITY Series and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series races (such as Bristol and Martinsville, for example), this policy may not be available due to scheduling or other constraints.

If you have any questions, please contact Marlin Wright in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series credential hauler at (704) 507-3183/mwright@; Georgette Hoover in NASCAR XFINITY Series registration at (704) 390-2561/ghoover@; Lisa Short at NASCAR Camping World Truck Series registration at (704) 507-3241/lshort@; Donna Hadzewycz in NASCAR Member Services at (386) 310-6330/dhadzewycz@; Meghan Miley in NASCAR Racing Operations at (386) 3106268/mmiley@.

We hope that you and your children enjoy this special experience. We welcome any feedback or suggestions on how we might improve this program.

Enjoy the race.
