MEET THE CANDIDATES

DISTRICT 2:

David Rundahl, Coon Valley, WI

I'm from rural Coon Valley where I have farmed for 40 years. I am married to Brenda and have 4 children and 9 grandkids. I currently farm with my son, Dale, and brother, John, raising row crops and steers. I am a member of St. Peter's-Hamburg Church and have served in many positions.

I graduated from Luther High School in 1976 and was given the education of a lifetime by my Dad who served on many boards and farmed his whole life. I served on AMPI as a delegate and resolutions committeeman for over 20 years. I served on the zoning committee for the Town of Washington in La Crosse county. I served on the West Salem Farmers Coop board for 7 years and have served two terms on the Allied Cooperative board as secretary since its conception. I feel I have more to contribute to the board. I believe we need to think transformational and be forward thinking, but at the same time respect the foundation built by our patrons. I think I play a pivotal role in bridging the past to the future and building relationships among the various locations.

I pride myself on being able to think strategically and being able to ask tough questions to bring the best results for the entire co-op. As a farmer myself, I know the hard work and dedication it takes to be a successful business. These same traits bring value to the board as I apply them in my service. I've enjoyed serving on the co-op board and would love the opportunity to serve you again. Members may email me at drundahl@ or call me at (608) 386-3503.

DISTRICT 3:

Leon Pfaff, Holmen, WI

I have lived and farmed in the MindoroHolmen area all my life. I graduated from Melrose-Mindoro High School and completed a Production Ag course from WWTC. I am married to Ruth and we have 3 children and 4 grandchildren. I previously served on the Foremost Farms Board, Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board and the La Crosse County Farm Bureau Board. I served as President of the Mindoro Lutheran Church Council where I am a member. I was an adult leader of Lewis Valley 4-H and was on the La Crosse County Board for 14 years.

The local co-op has been a part of my family for as long as I can remember. I grew up farming with my Dad and eventually purchased my own farm along with my wife in 1970. We milked cows and had fat steers until about 10 years ago, when we made the decision that a cropping operation was more agreeable to our aging bodies. Today we grow corn and soybeans on 500 tillable acres near Holmen.

AT LARGE POSITIONS:

Jim Bays II, Adams, WI

My name is Jim Bays II. My wife, Melissa, and I live in Adams, WI. We are blessed to have six children between us: Brenna (21), Collin (18), Abby (13), Rachel (11), Ryan (7), and Ava (9 months). I graduated from Adams-Friendship High School in 1995 and UW-Platteville in 1999. Growing up, I was an active 4-H member and FFA member while earning the State and American FFA degrees.

While at UW-Platteville, I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science with a dairy emphasis. I am currently running a 50 cow dairy and cash grain farm of 1100 acres, owned and rented with my parents since graduating from UW-Platteville. I have been a member of the Adams-Friendship School Board for 14 years, serving as the Board Clerk and Vice President. I am also a member of the Adams County Farm Bureau and currently serve as the president of the Adams-Friendship FFA Alumni Association.

Our family farm has been a customer of the co-op for 40+ years. In 2016, I was elected to serve on the Allied Cooperative's Board of Directors. During this time, I have watched it grow and change in a way that better serves its customers. When challenges arise, it has been our responsibility to remain steadfastly progressive, adapting as the marketplace continues to evolve.

Cooperatives are a very important part of our communities. With a farm economy that is faced with an abundance of uncertainty, we strive to support our members by making decisions and investments that are in the best interest of the farmers who own this co-op. I would be honored to continue serving Allied Cooperative and its members in the coming years.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns at jbaysii@ or (608) 547-3106.

Sarah Lloyd, Wisconsin Dells, WI

My husband Nels Nelson and I dairy farm with his family (NelDell Farms) outside of the Wisconsin Dells in Columbia County. The Nelson family has been farming in this area for over 100 years. We milk 350 cows and run about 1000 acres of land. We have used many of the services of Allied Cooperative - from agronomy, grain, energy, to feed, and even buy feed for our pets and backyard chickens.

I work off-farm for the Wisconsin Farmers Union and the Wisconsin Food Hub Cooperative. I have a professional background in project development and management, primarily working to build better markets for farmers with a goal of keeping farm businesses viable and rural communities vibrant. I have served on the National Dairy Board and the Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board. I have a Masters in Rural Development from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences and a PhD in Rural Sociology from UW-Madison.

I am fully committed to the cooperative model for farmers and the agricultural economy. As a director I would strive to be in good communication with fellow co-op members and make sure that our needs are brought to the table and front of mind as the cooperative manages its business. I am certain that both the farmer member and the cooperative can be successful, but they need to be in good communication and coordination.

I sit on several boards, including serving as Secretary of the Wisconsin Food Hub Cooperative. I was part of the start-up of this cooperative for wholesale vegetable farmers in 2012 and served as the interim General Manager when we first got off the ground. This gives me experience with understanding member relationships in cooperatives and importantly operational and financial management. As Secretary I am on the Finance Committee of the Cooperative and review financial statements and work on securing financing for the co-op. I will bring this experience and more to the Allied Board.

Members may contact me at sarahlloyd53965@ or (920) 210-7335.

Greg Sacia, Holmen, WI

My name is Greg Sacia and I have farmed in the Holmen area for more than 40 years. I have a very diversified farming operation of raising row crops, hay, hogs and a beef cow-calf herd in which I raise my calves out to finish and market them locally at Equity Co-Op Livestock Sales. I was raised on a family dairy farm and continued farming alongside my dad while beginning a position with Western Technical College in 1988. I was involved with the Farm Training Production Management Program where I was able to put to use my Agricultural College Degree and was directly involved in on-farm consultation and made recommendations to Farmers on how to make changes that would warrant a more positive outcome on their own farms.

I have served on the Farmer's Cooperative Supply and Shipping Board of Directors before the merger. I served on the Cooperative Network Board, formerly known as Wisconsin Federation of Cooperatives, for 12 years and served as the Chair of the Personnel Committee for 2 years.

In1990, I was elected to the Trempealeau Electric Cooperative, currently known as Riverland Energy Cooperative, and was involved in the merger which took place in 1999. I served in a variety of capacities as Vice President and President and went on to serve as a Representative of Riverland Energy on the Dairyland Power Cooperative Board of Directors. I served on various committees for both Riverland and Dairyland Power Cooperatives. I served on Dairyland Power Cooperative beginning in 2008 where I held the office of Secretary for 3 years and Board Vice Chair for 3 years. I was Chairman for Audit and Risk Management Committee for Dairyland Power Cooperative for 3 years.

As my time on these previously mentioned Boards expire, I am looking forward to being able to put my knowledge and experience to use in other capacities where I can contribute and use my proactive and forward thinking. I am able to evaluate new information and use my open mindedness to ask probing and insightful questions. I would keep meetings and one-on-one discussions on a strategic level.

I want you to know if there is one thing I have learned as serving as a representative on these boards it is to always represent the members and do what is in their best interest. I take this responsibility very serious and would do my best to represent you! If elected, please know you could always call or email me with any questions or concerns.

Members may contact me at councilbay@, (608) 526-4381 ? home or (608) 769-2630 ? cell.
