IDC – 10 Readiness: Recommended Trainings for CHC StaffUpdated June, 2014UPDATEOn April 1, 2014, the Protecting Access to Medicare Act of 2014 (PAMA) was enacted, which said that the Secretary may not adopt ICD-10 prior to October 1, 2015. Accordingly, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services expects to release an interim final rule in the near future that will include a new compliance date that would require the use of ICD-10 beginning October 1, 2015. The rule will also require HIPAA covered entities to continue to use ICD-9-CM through September 30, 2015. In agreement with PAMA, the Uniform Data System (UDS) reporting requirements will follow the revised ICD-10 implementation schedule. In the meantime, CCHN encourages CHCs to take advantage of this additional time to continue preparing for ICD-10 implementation. One area most CHCs can benefit from spending more time on is focusing on improving clinical documentation with providers. Please see the “Recommendations for Providers” section below for resources. Additionally, CCHN recommends that CHCs consider the trainings outlined below for various CHC staff. CCHN continues to partner with CHAMPS and Clinica to provide affordable trainings to Colorado CHCs. **Important note - CHCs should only look at the ICD-10-CM offerings. CM stands for “clinical modification” and applies to providers. Trainings noted as “PCS” are for facilities like hospitals. PCS stands for “procedural coding HN does not endorse any of the following consultation services. The following list of ICD-10 consultants and various training tools is not an exhaustive list.
