      Being a POW was boring! Tunnels, hiding, gliders, disguises, etc. Sagan, Germany: On 26 March 1944, 79 airmen escaped via a 360 foot tunnel that was 28 feet below the ground at spots. Three captured immediately. SS descended on the camp, arrested the commandant. Nearly all of the escapees were recaptured. Three escaped for good.
