      Robert Wilson and three brothers, Zacheus, Samuel, and David emigrated from Pennsylvania into NC, settling near Hopewell church in Mecklenburg County in 1745. Samuel Wilson, Sr. died on March 13, 1778. Robert Wilson married Eleanor Mitchell, daughter of William Mitchell of Pennsylvania. They had eleven boys, 10 saw service in the Revolutionary War.
