Noise frequency test
Sample Written Program - SMACNA
Management, supervisors, and employees shall properly wear the prescribed hearing protection while working or traveling through any area that is designated as a high noise area. Hearing protection will be provided at no cost to employees who perform tasks designated as having a high noise exposure and replaced as necessary.

A noise dosimeter is a sound level meter that integrates noise over time to produce a time-weighted average. Performing noise exposure monitoring requires a sound level meter or dosimeter set in the “A” scale at “slow” response. The “A” scale weights the intensity of the sound frequency similar to the human ear’s response to hearing.

Speed = frequency X wavelength. Frequency is the number of vibrations or back and forth motions per one agreed upon unit of time. The agreed upon unit of time is one second. Wavelength is the actual physical distance that a wave travels while it is going through one total vibration.

Figure 4.1, is an overlay of the March and June background noise data. It shows only a slight increase in the noise floor between 10 and 60kHz. The peaks in this interference were correlated to noise monitored outside the chamber (especially the line at 20kHz on the X receiver) with an HP spectrum analyzer.

Low frequency noise must be measured for each operating condition and clearly identified in the test results. Analysis and Discussion of Results The analysis of the results must include a discussion on any non compliances with the limits prescribed by EPL Condition L6.2, by referring to L6.4, which states:
